crops and animals on other planets

I'm considering building a farm with both animals and crops on a different planet than my home one. as of what I found, crops grow also when they are on other planets but what about animals? do they grow up and produce stuff when you aren't on the planet they are on? Also, what about moth traps?

 

Yes to both. I actually keep separate worlds for all three (moth traps, crops, animals) because it helps with lag prevention.

 

Ok, thanks for the help! What do you mean with seperate worlds though? like different planets? And why does that reduce lag?

 

Yup, different planets; it means that the game doesn't have to load them in all at once. I suppose I could have just put them very far away from one another on the same planet, but ehh, this gives me more room to expand.
