So, we all know that you can get NPCs to reside in different areas. One thing that hasn't been confirmed, is if you can take your NPCs on your ship to planets. Would they be able to help you fight and stuff? Also, would there be limit to how many NPCs are following you at once? I think six would be a good limit.
Perhaps you could have an item that would teleport them to you if you need their help? I think it would replace real people a bit easily though imo. ~Jake
Yeah, I think it would be good for single player. It may be useful in multi player, as well, if your kind of the loner type. Maybe hired NPCs or maybe NPC friends?
I think it would be very cool, it would add a bit more depth to some of the quests and it would also add a bit more detail to the whole gameplay. May be relevant for plot, but not necessarily.
"No Billy! Dont jump into that pit of cobras!" watch as he jumps in with your new set of armor... lol ~Jake
Yeah, it would be a nice addition deciding between NPCs and monsters. Maybe you could let your NPC ride a monster to have a tank on your side!
It HAS been stated that when your space station is full, you will be able to take further NPC's to your homeworld. As for what the extent of their abilities to join you in combat are, that hasn't been specified. From everything I have seen discussed, it seems that NPC's will serve a wide variety of roles, including helping you research technology, so I wouldn't say going into combat with you is outside the realm of possibilities.
Having a limit to bring what npc's with you would add a little challenge since you are limited to a set number of resources only. Now if they could die in the planet too, that would bring another set of challenge. I like where this idea is brewing into.
