Creatures should be able to break down doors and blocks according to their size and strength

I get that a tiny rodent-like thingy can't go through my door, no matter how angry it is. But a fatass T-rex-elmosaur sure looks like the kind of thing who could tear down my wooden doors in 3 or 4 blows. If it's strong enough, it should even be able to break wooden walls!

I think certain mobs should be able to break down blocks according to their strength, otherwise there is no practical use for iron doors beyond aesthetics.

Breaking down: No with the power of a thousand kangaroos.

I think some of the bipedal creatures with obvious arms should be able to open a door, or beat it open; I'd rather not deal with creatures that can actually tear apart a structure though. I think given the current acquisition of some building materials [IE, looting a Glitch castle for doors] too that breaking down doors into items should probably be discouraged-- unless those objects are going to be craftable at some point. If we're talking the difference in door materials, I was kinda imagining that they were mostly aesthetic differences either-- because while you might not want to waste the ore on 'em right now, far into the later tiers you might not mind dropping the materials for a fancier looking door.

(But if we're talking about enemies knocking open doors then that could give different materials some utility beyond looks.)

Basically I see it as the difference between planning and putting your doors out of reach of monsters [or unlikely reach, such as up a bit of a cliff], as opposed to a big guy just tearing through your walls and wrecking your house to get to you. The first I'm willing to work with, the second would just be angering if I lose a build I've spent time on because a monster wanted to eat my NPCs or something.

If you plan well, the first is very unlikely to happen. The second would be realistic and an encouragement to making a house of stronger materials. An elephant can tear a wooden house down, for example. But not a stone house, if the walls are thick enough.

Is this going to be an consideration for the upcoming "Survival Mode" button?

Was a survival mode mentioned in a blog update? I must have missed it.
