Crazy Unrealistic Theory - Not To Be Taken Seriously

What if... Starbound is fake! (Remember, this is all for the sake of a funny consperacy theory.)
Think about it for a moment, let it sink in.
For starters, doesn't this game just seem to good to be true? Well maybe that's the truth... Maybe it is so amazing, it can't possibly be real!
Oh yeah, you may be saying "there is pictures and everything," but anyone can anything they want... And those three videos we got to see, what if they just messed around with terraria textures?
Psh, from all this evidence, it is obvious Starbound is not real. How can you expect something so cool, and so AMAZING, to actually exist?
The same thing goes for CubeWorld... For those of you who know what that is.
You may be wondering why they would do this, and I have a pretty legit answer.
(This part may be controversial because some people may take it seriously... Please do not take this seriously, it is just a joke. I often make jokes about consperacy theories.)
The way to donate to Starbound development, is by buying another chucklefish produced game... No beta access, no extra items, nothing to do with Starbound.
Technically this makes it legal if the game were fake, because you aren't REALLY donating to Starbound, you're just buying Wanderlust, so no sueing may be done.
Of course you may now wonder why they would put in so much work to do this, but the answer is simple.
Wanderlust didn't work out well. It didn't look that great, wasn't very well done, and for these reasons didn't get an immense amount of sales.
As you can see, it is highly possible Starbound is not real. It is way to amazing to ever be real, it doesn't require much work, and the "devs" can legally gain donations for a game that may never be released!
Isn't it simply magnificently evil?
(This thread is entirely made just for the sake of being made. It's a joke and something to be talked about. I just found it fun to make a consperacy theory thread, so here it is.)

If anyone takes this offensively, I may remove it. Just remember that it's a joke and you shouldn't really think that I'm calling Tiy and his devs scammers, because I know they are all wonderful, awesome, cool devs.

And if I suddenly die, you may then assume all this is true.

hmm...Rabble rabble rabble..haha, good points aside~ you put up a good point...i don't think i have heard of a developer posting something like pictures and videos only for money and never release the game. Makes me wonder if there is one out there

It turns out the Starbound devs are really... PENGUINS IN DISGUISE!
We should've known... So many penguins in Starbound, it should've been obvious sooner.
And now, they shall rule the world!

 

Ok... Not gonna lie, your sense of humor is pretty weird, and this thread in general is uh.. Well it sure is a thread, it has words and stuff.

Just wanted to address this part though.. Wasn't Wanderlust like the top 3rd best selling game on steam for a few days after release? I'm pretty sure they met/exceeded their sales expectations.

 

yeah. The hardest thing is to fake live videos, there was two live coding and this code is pretty hard to fake it.

Now, I realize the thread is a joke but I have one thing to say.

It is more then a bit saddening that the Starbound dev's classify as "exceptional" by any means.
I mean logically speaking corporate companies should be "exceptional" and "innovative"
Indie developers should have made something of this caliber years ago, we've had the technology for it for quite a while.

It just slightly saddens me that general apathy, greed, and incompetence by the rest of the development community causes something of Starbound's supposed quality to be 'exceptional'.
Games as good as Starbound is looking to be should be the rule, not the special case, but until the majority market stops simply buying any 70$ pile of crap the corporate companies throw out the door, nothing is going to change.

No, here's what's going to happen:
Tiy is going to announce the release date of Starbound to be January 1, 2013.....
BUT, as predicted by the ancient Mayan astrologers, the Earth will explode on December 31, 2012!

 

Or maybe it's just a training simulation in disguise so we can eventually combat the inevitable penguin invasion
