    Lutalli Yeah, You!

    Hi there,

I was playing the latest version of Starbound and trying to join a server. However, after I pressed the button [Join server] the game got stuck for a while and then just crashed (closed).

    Here is my starbound.log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/BgQNbsMVwV/

There're some problems same to this which have been posted before, but I didn't find any solution that works for me.

    Thanks!!

Please verify that you're connecting to the right IP and Port. Because the received message from the server is not something expected by starbound in this case so it might be possible that you connect to another serversoftware or sth.

    Lutalli Yeah, You!

I suppose the IP and Port are both OK.

I launched a Starbound server on my own PC, and I was trying to join it on the same computer. I entered IP as 192.168.0.1 and Port as empty (which is equal to 21025). Also I think didn't use any serversoftware.

    Is it weird?

When you setup a local server you either have to connect to 127.0.0.1 or your lan ip. 192.168.0.1 is in most cases the default router ip but not your lan ip.

Oh yes, I used 127.0.0.1 and successfully joined.

However, now my friend wants to join my server and his game crashed as well ...

    His log file: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/Qtf4Sy32YX/

And this time the IP (157.7.194.172, my IP) and the Port (default) are surely correct.

    Thanks

You'll have to setup portforwarding in your router. Depending on the manufacturer this step is different. I recommend looking it up in your router's manual.

    Lutalli Yeah, You!

Now I have setup the port forwarding (both Internal and External port are set to 21025). But my friend's crashing remains.

P.S. previous IP 157.7.194.172 is actually wrong bec I forgot to turn off VPN (nevermind), but using my real IP still doesn't work.

    Sorry for so many errors

The ports need to be forwarded to your lan ip of your machine. Should be 192.168.0.X in your case, 1 being the router i assume, so forwarding to any other ip will not work. When the port is forwarded correctly your friend should be able to connect. Also make sure that your firewall allows access to and from the starbound server.

    Lutalli Yeah, You!

I have forwarded the port to my LAN IP of my computer already. Also I have turned off all the firewalls.
