Crappy unrepairable pick durability =/= fun

Still there are instances depending on where you aim the mm. But I guess I just like having what I stated before, the variety part. It does make aiming easier to use picks, as that is only for blocks and not liquid. So it is a specialized disposable tool compared to the mm which is an all catch category use tool.

The only thing of picks I have qualms of is durability being pretty low between different grades of them. a silver or gold one is not much better than a copper one. I actually like having it as a choice in game, which is the case. Primarily for the start of the game as is now, but isn't that the point. Some things that can be temporary to use early on in order to, on the sideline, increase the other universal tool. Else mind as well have the mm have max upgrade from the beginning, which wouldn't make sense in progression. Variety is the spice of life, but it is to know where and when it would be needed; even if temporary just for that stage of the game.

@Va1iD I still stand by my reasoning due to resources aren't scarce in the beginning, that is rng for the most part that would cause that. I had no problem finding resources in the beginning. There for the pick was quite useful in the beginning. I had more than enough copper.... And yes that is on the starter planet. I must have made 12+ copper picks and 1 silver & 1 gold just to see the difference. It might have been that rng was good to me, or it might be the way I play that amounted me such. Whom is to say. Either way it is useful early game or suppose to be while you are making upgrades to the mm.

I don't see pick as end game, as like you mention the drills replace that in the end. Unfortunately I haven't gotten that far yet to judge for myself of that one... The drill part.

Well, I'm all for boosting the power of the pickaxes/drills. In fact, I'd argue that for the rarity of the material, a diamond pickaxe/drill should one-shot almost all kinds of blocks. It should allow you do cut through a planet like hot knife through butter, limited as it may be.

I don't know. Why not a compromise instead?

Like make pickaxes 33% slower than the MM but does a 3x3
And Drills twice as fast but can only do 1x1
And can only be repaired by a type of furniture dedicated to it.

    Really, who cares?

I happen to love the re-utilization of the MM. Glad to see that they've taken this amazing little tool and are making it useful and upgradeable... and after a couple days worth of play I'm already in the habit of "R" ing back & forth between it & my weapons. I also love finding random picks in chests/boxes/crates and use them when I find them. Use what you want and let others do the same. If you are a molerat- use a drill. If you are a savy technician- use the MM.

    All good, baby!

My only complaint is the lack of customizable keys. I'm finding the key layout clunky (I use my right hand for wasd).
Spacebar jump hurts after a while (using baby finger), C would be better for me, and Id put inventory at tab or Q instead of I.
I'm finding I am spending more time clicking on the hot bar than using the assigned keys, and I have to look at the keyboard
too often to figure out where I am. Looks like this is not a problem for most people though...

Bindable keys ingame are one of the holy grails of Starbound. I hear there's a file you can edit in order to customize key-binding though.

Oh hell yes. I'd asked o'er Twitter for a kind of simple sonar-ping device to locate ores/caves, because digging for stuff was... GUH. (They Liked the Tweet, I'm hopeful we'll see that.)

I've been very loathe to go underground for a long time because it basically meant wandering around blind even if you had the best available stuff. But since the MM can serve as that in a limited capacity, yes please, goodbye manual tools.
