You can if you combine signs, made at the sign creator at the outpost. If there are two (or more) signs next to each other, their frames will combine. Pixel art!
But he did also happen to say that he would like to craft custom furniture which I'm not entirely sure is necessary but if it were to happen then I would assume that it would basically be like character customization but for objects.
