Would be pretty cool if you could craft flashlights (unsure if you can...) and attach them to weapons, so you can use gun with flashlights. Just a thought.
I'd put this under a wider category of "modable equipment". It's a nice thought, but I think we are a long way from it.
Technically, you can already use a flashlight with a gun: to do so, equip a one-handed pistol in your right-hand weapon slot. Switching to your flashlight would keep your pistol out. Same goes for any item placed in the right-hand slot in fact!
I've found a few flashlights hanging around here and there... but even the colored ones, I'm like... why would I ever use this? Is it any better than what I have? It would be nice if there were some stats for flashlights on how bright, how much energy usage, etc... I know I have a brother who collects lights, and he has a flashlight that would turn a whole cave into daylight...
Yeah, but I was thinking for along the lines of the two handed weapons, and what if you want to use a pistol and a knife/one handed sword/other one handed things other than a flashlight
These are tradeoffs that one must make in life... otherwise the game just descends into a game of "I got you! No, you didn't! Yes, I did!" The intriguing thing about the game is that you CAN'T do everything... it calls for the invention of interesting choices... and perhaps, each person will find a different solution?
I get what your saying, but at the same time, with all the tech floating around, you can't sit here and say that it wouldn't fit into the game. Its not game breaking in any way, shape, or form. Its just so you can use a flashlight attached to a weapon. If not the ability to craft a flashlight, at least the ability to mod a weapon at a crafting table to attach a flashlight.

Oh, I'm not saying that I wouldn't implement it... definitely not saying that... I'm not even saying that it's a bad idea... I think it's generally a good one. I'm just saying, hey, gotta balance things... you want high DPS? Need a weapon in both hands... and then where do you put the flashlight? for melee there's never any good reason why you would have a light attached...
Well, as far as balance goes at the moment, the beta isn't exactly a shining example with the ability to endlessly float and what not, so I think conceding a flashlight on top of a gun wouldn't be so bad. Oh, and I'm /signed for your idea about flashlight stats. I really wish the nature of my flashlight was more than aesthetic. Especially when I'd much prefer to look at things in normal yellow/white lighting instead of having to look at things in a gross radioactive green, if the radioactive green coloring doesn't do something like give the monsters cancer. I don't think he's so much speaking in the sense of being able to attach a flashlight to a two handed massive warhammer. Just adding in some extra miscellaneous features like attaching items to guns. I, personally, wouldn't mind a gunsmithing station where you can craft/equip guns with attachments on them like a laser sight or a secondary fire feature. The second one is a drastic suggestion, but I'm mainly trying to get the gist across. And a gunsmithing station would be an interesting feature to add WAY DOWN the line. Like, after they actually get guns in a stable, balanced, and optimal state.
Well, right now it's like why would I ever use a non-"white" light? I've seen yellow, and green, and red... and none of them give me any reason to really give a shit an pick up and use them, because none of them have any different game mechanic... "oh cool, I can either look at everything in normal light, or I can look at the exact same stuff in a different color hue!" hurrah! v_v
I feel like this is the same problem that was in Doom 3. Craft yourself up some duct tape and tape the flashlight to the gun.
Well, at least here, I can hold a one handed gun and a flashlight at the same time... even that would have been a step up in doom 3...
Right now, Augments aka Mods, are objects attached to weapons in game that perform special feats for your weapon. Almost every weapon can be enhanced, but these enhancements are rare and hard to find. I would like there to be one that works a lot like a Flashlight for Guns and a lot like a Lantern for Melee Weapons. I support the idea with the Flashlights being used too!
