Guys, i think we're going off orbit to the release date of July 22! The hype train has just begun for it and we are in hyperspace! Join us for the countdown till July 22nd! To all starbounders this is a thread while we discuss our all of the good times we have in Early Access.

Now i like to show my story on how a got this game in 2013.

I was surfing in the internet and while i found a Trailer of starbound, i thought it was really boring. It wasn't i discovered my first mod before i bought starbound and gave me a good heart to play this. So i bought the game, downloaded the mod and installed it easy and played the game as a white haired Saiyan. My first survival went pretty smooth since i was skilled enough. It took me a little while to get used to it, but it became fun. When i discover more and more as a Saiyan, survival and going to other planets as key. So i decided to load up coal into my starship and went out.

I found cool but interesting alien like planets, sometimes out of the world and sometimes Earth like. I got killed by meteors for the first time, man it jumpscared me. I though saiyans supposed to withstand meteors, boy i was wrong and decided to go to another planet which it's safe. After months of playing and playing starbound. I tried out another race, but i pretend i was a Saiyan as Uub the whole time.

To this story, it's extremely long and i won't tell all of it, but i think Starbound holds a special place in my soul.

(Back in 2013, i have a first facebook account named Yuji Kaji Saiyan *shudder, remembers unplesaent memories from the past.* which it's my first OC to be a f*cking LOSER and a jackass who cheats at Goku no matter what! ARRGH! I am glad she deserved to be a Waste of Void. Plus, i would Roleplay as her, but she is designed as a Yandere anyways. Today, i might remake her as an intellegent woman, but turns into an Chaotic Neutral ass later on.)

So yeah, Early Access to me holds a special place in my soul no matter what. So, i think it's best to tell your story and opinions in the past while we wait for July 22nd.

    So, Story tell away!

Bought the game, faced Dreadwing with copper gear with these super ugly goggles, got stomped hard by his little laser-penguins and flipped my table.

Having a Hotbar that actually worked, unlike the 6-button mess that we have in current Unstable, and I presume 1.0 as well.

At least I could fit all of my weapons, and common adventuring tools on it without having to swap hotbars. I liked being able to do that, not having to swap to get to the other half of my hotbar.

Aw well. If it doesn't change, then I guess Early Access/Beta will likely be the last time I ever had fun playing the game, because this new hotbar is just too clunky to even play the game with. I suffered through a Nightly playthrough and I hated every minute of fumbling every time I wish I had room for my grapple gun, flashlight, etc but didn't. I hated having to build entire houses from my inventory that fills half of my viewing area, at least with the old hotbar I could put 3 or so building materials on it and only pull up the inventory for furniture.

My friends got me to get the game to play together and it was a blast. I think my most memorable moments were when we kept getting thrashed by the penguin army and dreadwing and when we kept dying to the erchius monster because we didn`t have shield and didn`t know how to damage it. I think we died 11 times before we figured out how to use the space laser thing. Oh those were good times.

Hyped for 1.0, but I don't particularly like the way CF is going with missions and the progression system, which feels progressively more linear and uninteresting.

Really hoping that Starbound will regain some of the charm it had back before the new "Giraffe" updates. Getting my unprepared ass beaten by Dreadwing was my favorite and, by far, the most memorabe experience I had playing this game.

Bought mine back in 2013 as well and it has been one crazy adventure. I have tried every aspect of the game (I think) in early access. Watched Chucklefish be the first company to bring a game out of beta on steam!!

Thank you Chucklefish for keeping your word and actually bringing the game to 1.0.

You still can, Story Progression is NOT tied to gear progression. I was running around on a Wasteland planet collecting Solarium with Silver/Iron armor and daggers that did ~4 damage, it was lovely.

Yeah, making the game non-linear is probably the best thing in this update. I really love it that they don't force me down their story.

This sums up so much of the original build releases from 2013. Stumbling around alpha and getting roflstomped was half the fun imho. It was harder in a lot of ways, but they really have come a looooong way in terms of overall appearance, performance, etc. I'm rather happy with it overall. Having been in for the long ride, I have some sense of accomplishment in what my dollars earned by sinking it into this back when it was untried.

My steam review if i redid it now would be like. "Death by penguin even after two years, worth my bucks. 5/5 would fly blind again"

My fondest memory is still fighting OG Dreadwing by running about 50% of the way around the entire starter planet while shooting him with a T1 or 2 gun I had been lucky enough to find.

My favorite memory was when Starbound players had to suffer through the reign of the killer birds.

Those heat-seeking, super aggressive, infinitely tenacious flying mobs spawned a great deal of hilarious mishaps for me and my friends.

I miss the robot, the dragon, and the jellyfish. Though I'm sure they'll be back for 1.0 somewhere.

I remember making mods back in 2013-2014. Looking back, the Half-Warps were really awful but it was fun working on them anyways. If the game gets an influx of players from the release, I may get back into modding.

My fondest memory was back in 2013, about seven months after I got the game and was slowly progressing through the game. I found a nice Avian settlement I could buy food from and dug myself a nice hole in the ground to live in. Pretty soon that became a sprawling underground complex to put all of my crap in, since ships were still really small. One day I emerged from this hole to fight the Bone Dragon. I put a couple of turrets on the flattened out space between my hole and the Avian village. When I spawned the Bone Dragon, I was thoroughly unprepared and I sat in one of the towers in the village shooting at it with my rifle. After letting it destroy most of the Avian village, I finally killed it. In total, it took 12 minutes and 32 seconds (I timed it).

I remember when my friend and I bought the game ( I bought the game for him :nurusad: ). We got all the materials to make the communications device, and we were trying to fight Dreadwing and beat him after something-something tries. When we beat him, after a few day, my friend got bored, and now I can never get my money back:chrono:.But still, best game ever! ( I also recently bought another one of my friends the game, not sure how she'll react to it )

One day, a few months ago, I found an USCM prison. I thought to myself "hey i'm gonna kill everyone inside and make it a huge station with teleporters and npcs and stuff", and I so I killed everyone inside and spawned brand new npc's on their corpses, and called it a day.
