Coordinates past 99999999?

Out of curiosity, i tried going beyond the max number that can be displayed in the starmap, and surprisingly, it worked.
Now, the question is, what do i do when i find something awesome over there and want to share it? or if i write down the coordinates to go there later?

 

I think maybe ctrl - c might work in the starmap? If not it's definitely a feature they should add.

 

This is a hidden area honestly. It's not supposed to have any coordinates. So you can't share them. Only show your way.

What about the edge of our universe, where we can see the nearest alternate one where everyone wears silly hats?

You appear to be correct, as an experiment I scrolled as far as possible into the forbidden region, went to a random planet; at first nothing seemed odd. But immediatly I stumbled onto a chest with a horse hat and a tiny violin... proceeding further I was accosted by 3 apex bandits, who's severed heads provided 2 more hats.

Based on this short survey i conclude this is indeed, a universe of literal hats

Wait, if you can go beyond 99999999, does that mean that the sectors are infinite?

 

I imagine the game would either have a hard limit, crash, or have far-lands-esque buggy behaviour once you approach the limit of a signed long integer

 

I have always been wondering if Starbound had a Far Lands. Someone please test, that'd be very interesting if it did.

 

I doubt it - At least not in that sense. The coordinates are just seed values, no? A value above the limit will just throw an error - or default to an initial seed value.

It doesn't actively affect the planet generation as such - only shuffles the algorithm around.

 

Go where no sprite has ever gone before? 99999999+1 the final frontier?

It was stated in a news post that in the final version of the game the last "sector" would be infinite.
