Exactly what it says on the tin. Blocks that will convey movable entities, (players, dropped objects, npcs, monsters, etc,) right or left depending on the direction they were placed. They could require wiring to turn them on and off, so that you could control whatever you created with them. Maybe even make modular speed levels with more complicated wiring.

Think of the possibilities! Dungeons, factories, traps, machines, moving sidewalks, and more!

I like it. What about vertical belts too? Something that has little platforms on it so that items can be pushed onto it and then lifted upwards to another belt.

As extension of this suggestion: A open container in which items can simply 'fall' (e.g. off the conveyer belt) and get stored automatically, until full of course.

    i like this idea ^^

would open up all kinds of possibilities for dungeons, player homes and villages, especially if we ever have NPC towns that are city sized :)

Sounds good. Maybe things that stick to walls like Grappling Hooks could also be conveyed up/down as well.

I like it. I'd say try and find a modder for this as it sounds incredibly useful.

the ability to add paddles to the belts for the movement of liquids would be awesome too.

This would also make dungeons less easy to bypass, if they could be hidden, currently, the drill is simply covering all the dangerous crap and then walking around, but if you stepped on a block that looked safe, then began being thrust toward lava, that would add a whole new dimension to dungeons. maybe even loot traps, where if you mess up, that treasure chest gets pulled off into god knows where.

I still say that an object that projects a field where no blocks can be placed or removed is a must for this sort of thing.

It might be, but remember, the game is fueled by creativity, making it impossible to add things is going to diminish that, but I agree that some level of change needs to occur, as at the moment, I just drill around to where I can find the treasure and leave.

Well, you hunt down the field generator and destroy it if you want to go nuts on the place. Creativity tends to thrive most when it's placed under restrictions.

Agreed, necessity is the mother of invention

There's an unimplemented conveyor belt item in the game already, but it does nothing. It's merely a decoration.

    You got my vote. +
The possibilities are endless with the implementation of conveyor belts/pulley system and endless possibilities leads to creativity. In a sandbox game creativity is a plus. You could make escalators! Haha! Shopping malls. When you're with a friend, one guy at the end could smelt bars, chuck it on the belt and the other dude pumps out armour. It's simply a great idea. OMG if works where you have attachments to a certain block you can make tanks.
