Contest Concepts?

Anyone have ideas for a cool contest idea that is fair? (Needs no special talent)

 

A short story contest; set limits on how long it can be as well as on the subject matter (Starbound related perhaps).

 

Erhhm let me explain this again......No real contest is worthy of a Starbound giveaway except for a fight to the death.

Now imagine with me a cluster of chickens and the contestants. On the outside of the arena there will be a collection of hooded men singing the theme song from Skyrim (or something as epic as that)
The cluster of chickens will swarm into a tornado formation using each other to support themselves and therefore propelling themselves upward with their wings. The air from their wings causes a significant surge of wind and therefore creating a thunderstorm up at the top of the tornado (thats called science). Each contestant must enter the tornado and partake in the "cluck fest". The weapons of choice will only be light sabers (because light sabers are awesome) and the fight must be to the death or until Darth Mal (who descends from the thunderstorm at the top) has been slain.

Whoever is the last contestant standing or whoever is the contestant that slays Darth Mal is the contestant which is victorious.

Let the battle begin.

Isn't the entire point of contests to compete?
Unless it's luck based, don't all contests involve talent?

 

Perhaps a 100-word character background, or a Cosplay, Some Art , just some ideas off the top of my head :/

 

Yeah but there has to be a way to compete that isn't entirely biased. Art contests favor the art community and so on.

 

Fight, to the death.

 

Reward the one that comes with the best idea on "How to murder my starter pet". No offence intended

 

Go on then, give me an example of a contest that isn't luck based, that is not talent based.

What about maybe a forum centered contest like 'Best Post'. It could be anything: "Look at this post I did to welcome this guy" - "I posted this funny reply in X thread" - "This post sparked a lot of discussion" ect. That way any type of person could win since what defines the "best post" could be pretty much anything.

That or since i'm giving 4 keys try and spread them to the largest contest categories that I can. Art, Writing, Plea, Random? Something like that.

 

Could be as simple as a lottery. "Pick a number between 1 and 5,000. Closest wins" sort of thing.

 

I think here, what he want is more like a lottery only luck based

Ah, but wouldn't that favor the writers and philosophers? Or, those who are naturally charismatic?
Also, those who can draw can add to their post. A picture says a thousand words, after all.

I'm thinking I'll have to break up the keys into categories to try and spread the love since unbiased probably won't work unless random, as you've said. I just always hated it in the past I see a contest for something I want and think "I can't do that". Or if it is something I can do it's usually over by the time I notice it haha.
