Hello Starbound community, I am glad to be part of such a thriving forum, and I am here today to discuss a slight annoyance that many of us have been facing.

That is the consistency of Chucklefish and their updates. Of course, we are all very lucky to have received ANY daily updates, but that is not what I am complaining about.
What I dislike about these current circumstances, is the way Chucklefish will promise to continue working hard to post daily updates, and they do very well for a few days...
But then, they just get shorter... And shorter... And then they stop coming altogether.
Eventually they start back up again, with a promise to be continued, etc. But it always ends the same.

I am just annoyed that Chucklefish continues to tell us daily updates will come, they post AMAZING updates for the first three days, but then they just kind of... Give up, causing the cycle to continue.

What I want, and many of my fellow forumers, is a more consistent way in which to make this work. I don't want to go to the website EXPECTING to find a daily update, but being disappointed. I would much rather go to the website every other day KNOWING there will be a daily update and being happy because of it.

All I want is for Chucklefish to stop disappointing me, and provide me with a crystal clear and constant answer.

Promising daily updates when they can only do it every other day is going to disappoint people.
Promise us a "daily" every-other-day update, and we will be easily made happy.

Just trying to give you a tip that will help to personally solve my disappointment in the way Starbound updates are currently being announced.

You don't have to agree, you don't have to start a flame war, you don't have to post sarcastic comments. Remember all this when you reply, as our devilish instincts will often tell us to say things we often do not mean, and things we know to be deconstructive when we could be constructive instead.

TL;DR (I am disappointed in you if you didn't bother reading it all, but I understand not everyone has the time to read massive text-walls.):
Chucklefish is being very inconsistent in the way they have their "daily" updates. I just want them to change it to something they can actually do, if daily is too hard for them. That way I won't be disappointed when I check out of the front page every day and don't find a daily update waiting for me.

This is really getting old. The best you can do is hope that they are working their buttocks off to get beta out in time. No need to criticize them for missing a couple of days.

Seriously, put yourself in that position: Making a game full time, trying to meet deadlines and goals. It kind of gets a bit frustrating for a while, don't you think? They have enough on their mind currently. Just wait until they inform us with something new!

Honestly? Why is it such a big deal if they miss a day... two days... or even three days? There is absolutely no reason why we NEED to have an update every day. They're known as 'daily updates', sure, but sometimes you either don't have much to even tell without it feeling like the same thing, or you're too busy and don't feel as if anything significant has been done to warrant posting about it. Back when they started doing this, I believe they mentioned it'd be daily (or frequent) updates. This is what they have been doing. They have been updating us frequently on the progress, even if they end up missing a day or two here or there.

I can't understand how someone can possibly be disappointed at such a nonsensical thing as this. To be honest? It's rather disappointing to see people acting so selfish as to think that they deserve to be updated precisely every day with no delay. Do you honestly think it matters that you now know about a minor tweak in NPC behavior and just that? I can understand it can be interesting, but it is not something that should get you feeling disappointed.

You shouldn't come to the side expecting an update and then getting all upset about it. If there is no daily update, all you can really do is just give a bit of a shrug and understand that it is not their responsibility to feed our gluttonous mouths constantly without fault.

Technically, weekends are their days off (They're human beings just like the rest of us). The last update was on Friday, so we shouldn't expect to get another update until tonight.

I would be perfectly fine they gave an update once a month that just said "Hi, this game is still alive" :p. *cough*cubeworld*cough* I would also probably have an easier time waiting for this game if they didn't give as much updates.

You mean to tell me that people are kicking and screaming because a dev that takes a bit of time out of their day is too busy to do so due to polishing things up for a beta release?

Jesus christ. Besides, it's the weekend, folk have these things called 'days off'.

I'd be afraid to see what would happen if they changed their updates to be weekly if people are complaining about TWO DAYS THAT ARE NOT EVEN WEEKDAYS.

Lots of people obviously haven't been on the Terraria forums.

All the updates, before 1.1, jesus sweet mother of hell loving mercy.

Redigit was barely on. Never pretty much. Tiy was busy all the time.

We got a small update maybe once every two months.

We rejoiced if someone posted a new thread. That didn't happen too often.

And every time i got an update, maybe a picture, just maybe, then oh my god. I cried. I yelped with joy and genuinely started crying.

A picture. A preview of an update. Oh my god.

Redigit and Tiy were not active on social networking.

And look at you, you spoiled brats. You get what we got every two months, only every other day, only much more.
The devs are online a lot. You can talk to them. Back in TO, i started a convo with Tiy. With a 1/1,000,000 chance, he responded with "Thanks :)".

I screenshotted that, printed it out and framed it. And put it on a wall in my room.

A developer.... talked to me... my life was complete....

And look at you, spoiled brats. Devs are online 23/8 on IRC. Twitter. They have their own blog. They post on the forums. They make AMA threads. They are on reddit. They talk to people. And the mods are cool too, they aren't giant assholes like many of them were on TO. I'm talking about Darkas. We all knew that douche. But not Ghostar. She's cool.

So bascially, TO people come from a developer news version of ethiopia, and you guys are sitting in fat cat heaven.

Now stop these spoiled threads and enjoy the masses of dev interaction gifted to you.

    Love you devs.

I just think the daily updates are inconsistent and often not daily. That's pretty sad because you get disappointer first because they're late and then because the update is always: we worked on tiers, we created a couple of mobs. Lately there are NO REAL infos about the game, and therefore the forum is pretty much dead or just posting about single people dreams. This is just bullshit. A good "update" every 2 days with consistent infos about the new progresses OR infos about the game will be good for me. AND SCREW THIS DAMN " SPOILER" POLICY. A couple of months before the deadline and i know almost NOTHING about the game, just vague infos and "noraml" voxel/random generation mechanincs.

I would just like to add that I am trying to help Chucklefish. If they are working to hard to do daily updates, they should instantly change it and only release an update every other day or whatever else is reasonable for them.

    I just don't like being disappointed/lied to.

I haven't noticed this, at all. To me it just seems like some days they've got more to talk about than others, which isn't unusual in game development.
