Just a huge fan of this game and couldn't help but notice that Starbound is getting to be one of the top best sellers!
It's doing better than ARK and Terraria, two games (one is close, the other not so much) that are said to be great games. Just saying I support this growing population of this amazing game base. Please continue to make it great!

Odd to get terraria votes here but to each their own. But starbound has some very good points that makes the game great compared to others but at the same time still needs some work to be great imo. We lost allot of great features going into 1.0 but it really feels like they were not canned, just pulled to be worked on post 1.0. Overall Starbound is a great example of a good early access game done right.

Needs an abstain option. But if I have to go and put one down as better than the other it'd have to be a very very slight edge to terraria. Both are approaching the 1000+ hour mark on my steam profile and I'll be honest and say I love both, and each one does certain things better.

I guess I have to give the edge to Starbound as its now my second most played non-MMO game in my library. It has awhile to catch up to Skyrim though xD

Even though I voted starbound, I like both about the same. Each for different reasons. Starbound has the building system that is better in my opinion, while Terraria has the combat oriented playstyle with a side of building. I like both for building, however the focus I have for each and the way I play each is slightly different; or well the way I go about playing each. :nuruhappy:

its freaking hard to choice one, because i like game for different reason and i cant say "this the best over the other" because both games have things that i like which do better than the other.

    i mean

    Terraria
what terraria dobetter the combat aspect, each biome have their own enemies, as you progress game get harder, bosses get more hard to deal to the point that probably in some points you would require a special arena just to beat them, as well mini events (moon blood, goblin invasion and so on) also building either your base or an specialized arena to kill bosses or farm stuff its what i like too. oh well also vanity stuff and the mounts.

what terraria lacks: its the exploring aspect, despite you can choose the size of your world you are stuck in one single world so once you explored every biome of the game and dig your way trough it, you dont have nothing else than just create a new world and start again.

what i feel its the strong aspect of terraria its the PVP (thanks to the class and the combatt gameplay in terraria) its what make people to keep playing it along with those arenas and those Bosses summoned by admin or manually from player hand what keep people doing their stuff in terraria. and i feel thats the strong aspect of terraria, the combat, the action.

    Starbound
what starbound do better its the exploration concept, this is what i liked more of starbound, and also the "aspect that you can walk the entire planet " so you dont feel "caged" in a single word like terraria where you cant loop from side to side of the world, growing your own crops, taking care yourself from extreme weathers and hunger its what make me enjoy the game because i was really trying to live another day. going to planets and try to colonize them its another apsect i liked and i hope terraforming brings more than just terraformig, doing quests to keep my tenants happy and probably join my crew its something i like to do when i go to a new planet and i just build houses for them, but the fact that i also can get stuff from them its what make me do the quests (but i would like those quests that "put this stuff in my house" could be based on the size of the object they want in their house because its really annoying when they ask you to put a big freaking avian emblem in a small house and not even removing everything could get into it)

what starbound lacks: its the combat aspect, dont get me wrong, while starbound have its fight sequences, its dont feel so thrilling like terraria, enemies used to have special attacks, and now its seems only unique monsters have special attacks, the rest just rush to you or tackle you, what also affect the combat gameplay in starbount its when "somehow your local server" start to lag, you can move freely without problem but enemies cant, so you pretty much can abuse this, so getting that feeling of being in danger and must fight your life its gone. special mission have unique areas which i like a lot, avian temple, attack to big ape hideout, lunar base, the hylolth library, but they are justt one time thing, not that you cant go there again once its done, but pretty much a reason to go there its for the special drop from the bosses nad their throphies once its done pretty much there is not reason to go there unless you get the mood to go there.

on world exploring you can tell eaisly which monster are aggro which its nice, but once you know how to identify them and you know that they only rush or tackle you (unless are those special enemies like those big pelican that vomit blood to you) you know nothing will be different so pretty much you can skip them, and the only danger in night its if you dont go with flashlight and probably when you start the game, once you hit durasteel tier danger its gone. undeground also lacks some sort of thrilling aspect since probably you dont going to find interesting thing unless where you digged was a lucky spot and find something like those human subterrean labs, challenge rooms and so on. so pretty much going undeground its boring also because enemies are also the same thing so the only real danger it just falling and not having lights (or well ignoring your hunger meter, weather meter etc)

there also no events in the game, there no invasion, no special nights, of course you get some quests of "get kill those bandits at such place" but its to go there bam return but nothing really big. so pretty much there isnt a lot of stuff to fight.

i feel they never should rid off the sector system, its really boring going to fiery stars only to find harder stuff because the previous stars arent that dangerous, but i guess they did this way so they dont have troubles with the quests asking clues for races in certain stars, but they could have made like "look for glitch clues in fiery stars located at Zeta sectors" so any fiery stars below zeta sectors wouldnt contain clues (but would contain glitch stuff but only the clues in zeta sector would count)

what i feel its the strong aspect of starbound its the modding, they add a lot of stuff and quality stuff for the game, but its kindaaa sad that you have to use mods to make more interesting the game, not that i dont like it, i like them a lot, but having to download a mod to play in a server or worring that mods can corrupt my game (yes i know back up) or they dont work anymore because update and have to wait for the modder to update (which probably they could quit after certain time nobody mods forever) its the only bad side of this.

I know i put a lot frm starbound and almost nothing from terraria. but terraria its pretty simple (not that its bad its pretty good game) because we can resume terraria in its slogan: Dig, build and fight. but starbound its more complex game have many aspects and they are really good but its the lack of action what probably make people prefeer terraria over starbound, because the only real danger here its the hunger, and the weather. also i have playing a lot starbound lately and almost nothing terraria (not even after the update of the desert and the crossover with dungeon defenders) this because the colonization aspect of starbound so i like to build cities for my tenants

i feel starbound could get more action adding some sort of invasion event from cultist like SAIL telling you a strange starship have landed and cultist are coming from them trying to take over this world or well you know stuff like that, undeground being more generous with the generation so almost the same depth of underground you can find those rare mini dungeons, some sort of space pirates attacking your ship, or even some rare bosses spawning in planets. because its kinda sad that we have nice weapons but enemies are pretty much... a sand bag.
