Confusing 3d Printing Rules

Hi! Been playing Starbound 1.0 constantly since release and it's been great, however one big thing that has irked me greatly is the inconsistencies with 3d printing objects. I am currently working on a comprehensive list of items that are not 3d printable, but as I do, I've noticed many items that don't match similar counterparts. Below are a few of many examples:

Traditional Wave Painting is 3d printable, but Traditional Mount Painting and Traditional Bridge Painting are not.

A few of the potted flowers are 3d printable, but not the white one.

Zen Rocks, despite being non-living, common, and generally unremarkable, are not 3d printable for some reason.

Most plushies found in Hylotl Cities are 3d printable, except the Virorb Plushie.

Almost no lights in underwater Hylotl cities are 3d printable, as well as several other seemingly unimportant and fairly common lights (Red Light, Broken Red Light, Blue Light, Small Waterproof Light, Waterproof Light)

Traps are not 3d printable, craft able, or purchaseable (they used to be printable, certain traps such as those from Scorched planets can be purchased, but I have not seen a vendor who sells things like the lightning traps or saws)

Certain Mission objects can be 3d printed, even at rare quality (Floran Hunt statue) but others cannot (Paintings in Hylotl Mission).

A few rare quality items can be 3d printed, but not all (big side-note: I don't see the logic here. Treasure Chests, Floran Champion Statue etc. can be 3d printed, but not things like the Pagoda Aquarium. The argument can be made that doing so would undermine the rarity, but that's inconsistent. The argument of making it too easy to complete quests doesn't hold up either, as not only can you still just hoard these items to help friends complete the quests, something I've done multiple times, but also you can 3d print every single item required for Koichi, which is a fairly long questline)

This is frustrating to me because I've been obsessively scanning everything I come across, excited to 3d print everything, and then i begin to find out that I can't print certain things. With the old 3d printing system, you would know this earlier because you would try to scan the item in and it would fail.

As the game is a sandbox, I'd prefer if we were allowed to 3d print more, but if nothing else, I feel like there should be a notification or color for items that can't be 3d printed, so that we collectors can know in advance to hoard those items.

Has anyone else run into similar issues? This is on the discussion board because I'd like to have a discussion about it, whether people think this is intentional, or have run into similar issues as me, or even if you disagree and think that the way the system works is totally fine. I'd be happy to hear opinions.

    EDIT: Added two more examples.

I 100% agree. Things that can and can't be printed should be a different color. Like maybe a yellow-orangeish color that doesn't change to red when you scan it. So you will always know this can't be printed.

My guess is a lot items have imply not getting the printable = ture marker.

I imagine that's probably true, and maybe this would have been okay as a bug report. I just don't want to waltz into bug reports and say "Excuse me I can't 3d print Zen Rocks plz fix" and then it's not actually a bug and Chucklefish has their own reasoning as to why that is.

I was also wondering if anyone had come across items that were not 3d printable themselves, as trying to create an exhaustive list of (non-obvious) items to be on the lookout for is fairly difficult.

well in that case we need an indicator to know what is supposed to be orintable and what not because a player needs to know what to collect and what not. Also i doubt there is any reason not to print these kind of items as they have no gameplay impact aside from visuals.

however a "non printable objetcs" threat would be good where we cna list all non printable items making it easier for CF to have the list of nonprintables to redecide what may be missing as printables.

I guess that, while some are intentional, most of them are oversights, specially in the more arbitrary cases.
