Concerning the Beta

Joking tiger but my speculation isn't. I have thought it since the day the possibility of a beta was announced . Got bets with my friends

 

I see where you're coming from, but I feel that leaves them open to feature creeping. Which seems something likely to befell Chucklefish. It would be better if they complete everything to a point that works and then release it. With occasional updates improving on what we have.

There are 58 items on the roadmap (bear in mind not everything is on the roadmap)
Of those items:
-32 are above 80% complete (including those that are 100% done), which is approximately whats required for a working beta.
-Assuming no multiplayer in the beta, we do not require 6 of the items below 80% complete.
-Assuming no questing or quest related NPCs, we do not require 3 items below 80%

This leaves 17 items that require completion. Many of which are simply awaiting implementation. I agree that late April is unlikely but I think May is a possibility.

 

We can only hope.

 

I thought the beta would be released when the Roadmap is 100% complete. Doesn't it mark the beta release? It isn't a complete Roadmap for the game and doesn't show you what is needed for the full release. Many Items will take longer to finish than others. Most await implementation but that doesn't tell much. They could even rewrite most of those "pending for implementation" things.

It isn't a complete roadmap but its sort of an inbetween beta and full release. There are features in the roadmap that Tiy has said wont feature in a beta such as Quests and complex NPCs.

I would love it to come out this weekend because school holidays start then but that's definitely not going to happen so I'd have to say May, June or July.

 

We suspect release around September/October, and seeing as there was no news letter or anything, and judging by the little progress as tracked on the roadmap, I would expect a beta late late June-early to mid July.

 

I would say Beta is released some time in Q3, either June or July and definitely before August. I have very strong doubts it is released in Q2, just because of what they have left to do.

Just wanted to point out that the beta will definitely have multiplayer. There have been numerous discussions regarding beta both on the forums and on IRC, many of which included concepts that demand multiplayer capability. Though that may mean that we're a bit further out than some folks would like, personally I think it's incredibly important to include that particular feature. So I don't mind the wait.

 

My guess is June or July. However sometime in May would be great.

Its been said by an interview with Tiy (which is in this thread) that you can.

 

Sometimes during Q2 would be nice, Q3 would be OK.

 

My guess is sometime during the Summer. June at the earliest, August at the latest. Then again, my estimates for this game always seem to be about 3 months in the future, so by the time its July, I'll be saying it'll be out in October.

 

Summer sometime. Threads on this subject are also made fairly often.
