Concerning the Beta

Yeah another beta thread, sue me.

Basically, I'd like to discuss when you guys think the beta will be given to us. Now before a bunch of you come in here to tear my face off and screech about how "It'll come when it comes!!" while you chew at my succulent face flesh, I don't want to hear that. I want an estimate from you, not a generalized "When they release it." Be constructive.

Personally I'm guessing late April, early May. Feel free to agree or disagree with me on this.

Furthermore I think the fact that the April newsletter hasn't come out (as far as I know) is somewhat promising. It may have some pretty big news concerning a beta.

 

The newsletter did come out. I'm guessing June/July.

 

If it comes out April, I might just have to combust on the spot. Like full on explode in hot magma and flames

 

I am hoping beta will be out by the end of this month.

 

It did? Odd, I never received an email about it.

 

I'm actually hoping that it will be mid May to early June. Speaking as a college student. I'd really like to focus on my exams and not have the temptation of Starbound there.

 

Spam maybe? You didn't miss much, it talked about roadmap and preorder. Boring to me.

 

I think it will take about two weeks for most of the devs to drop their jobs (as in two weeks notice and their other non Starbound jobs) and then after that updates and trailers and information will start pouring in like crazy. That is my hope at least. Early June for beta. My estimate

 

No I don't think it was spam, theres no email. Well thats frustrating. A little disappointing about the news it brought.

Oh well, I still stick with late April early May. Unless they try to perfect the beta which is just a really, really silly idea.

 

I really don't think the beta will be here this month, probably somewhere between late May and July.

I am skeptical it would be as early as this month. In my opinion I think the earliest we could see Beta is sometime in May or June. It depends on what type of beta they are planning on running and how much feedback/fixing they want to do from that point till launch. If they are aiming for a nearly feature-complete beta, I would expect to see it mid summer at the earliest perhaps, baring a major increase in development speed due to the funding.

 

No matter what day it comes out on, we can be sure my head will explode.

HA....humor... But i agree with June. early to late june. Makes sense if you think about the release date of the game, and the distance between the beta and full release being even. 8 months left, 2 months till june, leaves a good six months. wouldnt think they would release the full game in December. so probally November. that leaves a perfect 4 months for people to "beta test" the game and get the creases worked out in the game. I'd say the logical release date of the beta would be June. Be surprised if it wasn't. Maybe Tiy should make a 1M stretch goal of beta release?!?

 

Yeah, basically when most things are around 80-90 percent complete. Which is currently the case.

 

No, please I agree with your speculation, but I don't think that an earlier release date should be a thing, I want the beta to release on the day Chucklefish feels fit.

 

Well, I'd assume sometime in May or June because a Dev posted a reply in my thread. Though that's just my assumption.

 

I'll assume some news of it in the next newsletter, but probably not an actual beta until mid-late June.
Call me a downer, sure, but since the pre-order just came out I'm perfectly fine with waiting a few more months.
