Briefly: It is totally a crime that interacting with a placeable piano does not bring up a play music function like the inventory item piano does. This already exists in the game and extending it to placeable pianos would just be awesome. In the same vein, if items like the club speakers could be programmed to play music continuously via the existing music system, that would be awesome as well. This can't be that difficult to program when the system for custom music already exists, can it?
I say don't stop at the piano! I made a suggestion last week (no one cared lol) but it was for all the instruments that we carry in our lockers to become placeable objects! Imagine if we could make a real music room or studio! As much as i love the apex turntable music hahaha, it would be nice to put my instruments around the room and then interact to pick them up and play them as per your suggestion with the apex piano. They did such an awesome job with music in this game, I think it would be so cool to just go the extra mile with this idea.
