Been a while since I actually posted to the forums so not sure where to put this, and yeah I did search over the forums but I didn't see anything really fleshed out for the idea so thought I'd make one after seeing the may 6th blog. I'm also not sure if this exists in the game currently or not. Here goes: Concept - Ghost as a prefix template for NPC/more sentient monsters/S.A.I.L. Fighting a Ghost NPC/Sentient Monster would require a special tech/suit or gear/weapon to be able to do damage to them. You can still stun them with a regular attack though, they have memories of what being attacked feels like and will react accordingly. Ghost Planets could be filled with Ghost Monsters and even Ghost Boss Events. Most Ghost NPC would be used for guarding abandoned/haunted buildings on dead planets. the loot pool for chests inside the buildings would be much less vast than most loot pools and would have a much higher drop percentage of useful items simply because by my design Ghosts are more of a mid-tier gear enemy. Abandoned Ships can be a thing, with Ghost NPC and such floating around and even Ghost S.A.I.L. which could be a boss event itself. Ghosts create a Ghost Biome, around them if they are on a living planet where plants around them die and blocks decay and a mist covers the ground and somber creepy music plays.
I don't think Ghosts would fit Starbound's Sci-Fi theme, but they've already made ghost-ish monsters like Spookit or Wisper.
Ghost's... Then vampires werewolfs zombies undead's (Zombies... But kinda not really) giant rats and dragons... "It doesnt fit in starbound sci-fi theme" -Tottaly random commenter To which i'll reply- "Same as giant alive poop" Shut up and give me my ghost buster's ghost captchure thinges!
