The compressing of pixel is a little unbalance because most people would just use 1k compressing because it is easiest then 10k and both have same reduction of 40% of pixel loss. The 10k should have a lower reduction to get people to go for it. Same goes for the other pixel storage less reduction the higher you go
I was about to post the same thing. Cheers for searches doing what they're suppose to. Anyway, yeah. Right now the dominate strategy is to make 1k voxel packs as it nets the same reward as the others but at less risk. You will always be better off making than rather than waiting for the larger sums... 1K Voxel • Easiest to make. • Safest to make. • Re-compressing any unused voxels after spending wastes the fewest pixels. 2k, 5k, and 10k Voxels • Harder to make. • Increased risk you may die before being able to make them. • No added benefit to reward the increase in risk. • Actually penalizes the player if they need to re-compress. Example of Re-Compressing: You need 2k pixels and have a 10k Voxel. You use it and then use the 2k. You now have 4k left over. Better store that. Just re-compress and walla, you have now lost a grand total of -5600 pixels of the 10k you originally had. By comparison, if you'd just stored ten 1k Voxels, you could have uncompressed four of them, leaving you with six that wouldn't get taxed another 40% and a remainder of 400 pixels you can't compress. You've lost 4k pixels this way, a profit of 1600 pixels over the 10k in the same scenario.
Necro-bumping because it's better than making a new topic for this (still unresolved) issue. 1K Voxel Pack still only voxel pack that matters. There's no reason for any other to be made. No reason for any other to be used. No reason for any other to even be in the game. The pixel compressor exists in its current state for one recipe and the others are pointless. Make the bigger voxel packs more efficient OR limit how many you can stack.
