Completely customisable aircraft

    Even though I am not quite sure exactly your intent with this thread, I would love to see an aircraft building screen where, if you have the necessary components, could completely customize a ship with 100s of parts as your palette! From there, you could attach the parts to almost any part of the ship at almost any angle. The only limitation, if that seems too complex for programming, could be that every component in the programming background would be made of a series of vertices (dots) where you can attach the other points, and then work on the angle from there.

    If you want a zeppelin, you can have it.

    If you want a zeppelin with rocket propulsion, you can do it.

    If you can't tell, I like zeppelins.

    Why just aircraft? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the weapons are gonna be procedurally generated (like in Borderlands), and each planet will be different from the next, so why not expand and give players the ability to make their own vehicles unique?

    I don't blame you. Zeppelin is just a funny word, like loot. and Duct Tape.

    Also, You might want to get the Demo for Kinetic Void while you wait.

    in my opinion I think Aircraft should be a lower tier level technology before Spacecraft so... I think aircraft should be limited to in Atmosphere travel and Spacecraft traveling through space.

    If an aircraft goes into space, it therefore becomes a spacecraft. Hence, your point is a bit....counter-intuitive.

    Hmm. Great idea! The aircraft need to be customizable with weapons and parts and details and stuff. Plus upgrades. Looooooottttssssssssss of upgrades. Like upgrading to space travel :) I think you could start making aircraft when you build a vehicle factory or something like that? And then eventually you will go from tiny little planes to huge star cruisers that are controlled by you and your friends. That would be SICK.

    I think that is a good idea and i think you start with a destroyed airship and you have to restore it and you to upgrupade it to go to the space

    I hope I can make a unique aircraft and/or spaceship i can use. Itll be fun but the real question is, will it blend?

    I definitely agree that this concept is begging to be implemented, especially considering the high emphasis on interplanetory exploration. A couple further ideas could possibly be:

    If my concept of where this game is headed is correct, there's going to be some element of resource collection. What if you could craft better spaceship components with higher-grade elements that could only be obtained in deeper regions of the more hazardous planets. For example you could start out only being able to craft an iron hull for your space-faring vessel, leaving you vulnerable to some of the dangers out there is space. But after you've invested some playtime, upgraded your loot, you become able to harvest Adamantium to be fashioned into more resilient space-ship parts, and all of a sudden the vast reaches of the universe seem a little less daunting.

    ...and of course this will be more fun the more flexible the game is with creativity. If no two players' ships were the same, could you imagine!? :D

    What about harvesting silicon, combining it with some copper wires you've crafted to make circuit boards and whatnot, so you could craft targeting systems for weapons, or navigation systems to keep track of the various planets you've discovered on your journey.

    Then, say you've traveled a long way, but miss the view from that base you constructed on the first planet you ever visited and you don't want to trek your way ALL the way back along the path you've traversed. Perhaps that journey wouldn't seem so daunting if on one of the more difficult planets you found along the way you stumbled upon some dark matter, became able to harvest it, and upgraded your ship's engines to run on said dark matter, allowing you to travel farther, faster, and more efficiently. This would be SO MUCH FUN!

    If these concepts were made complex enough, you'd nearly never feel like there was an end to the amount of upgrades you could give your ship, and you'd constantly feel more and more powerful as you wander around the universe. I feel this is an extremely important gameplay mechanic in a sandbox universe exploration game, to start out feeling crippled and exposed and end up feeling like the strongest thing out there.
