Complete PC crash

So I've started playing Starbound again after the new update, and after around 30 minutes of gameplay, as I was just jumping up a cliff, my whole PC freezes with the monitor displaying a frozen image of my character in mid air, and the previous 1 second of audio looping. This went on for around a minute, after which my PC fully restarted. I had this issue in the beta and using OpenGL mode is apparently a good fix for now, except theres no OpenGL mode. Id love this issue to be resolved since I adore this game and would love to keep playing.

GPU: Nvidia GTX 950

I dont know how relevant or important this is, but every little helps right?
I was playing in full 1080p, on a server a friend was hosting, using steam. The boxes labelled 'Connect VIA IP' and 'Allow Asset Mismatch' were un-checked.
