In the vanilla game merchants in small towns sell you items, there must be some giant trade groups out there. Groups that can sell higher quality items, exclusive items. Ship vendors can be a thing, selling a higher tiered ship or even a different race ships. Ore is valuable, certainly some industrial company wants to extract the ore from a planet. Technology is a thing, Why not have companies like Space Apple creating exclusive tech that can only be bought in a official space apple store.
Not a bad idea but there would have to be multiple of them sadly because in such a big universe how would you find it ?
