That's not very practical though, and the fact that you have to makes dropping down safely using platforms tedious at best, as well as error prone. (it's really easy to forget releasing down)
It also makes it impossible to land on a platform and instantly duck.
I think it would be better to change it so that you land on platforms even if you're holding down. If there's any actual desire to have the ability to continuously fall through multiple platforms, just make it so that you can do that by continuing to hold the jump and down buttons or something.

nice update, but i don t like the change that everything cost pretty much nothing now (pixel) i thought it was okay as it was.

just about right..... i remember the time i wanted to play games on directx10 and 11. guess what? i bought and installed windows 7. the world doesnt owe you anything like said before and if all people in the past would have thought like you windows M.E. (or whatever version was before) would still have been supported and so development time would have been wasted for that instead of fixing the real things. i know its hard to believe and hard to see but sometimes you have to move on. atleast a bit.
the need of this discussion about a 10 year old Os is ridiculous. Ask the mac users if there is a 10 year old Mac OS supported :D

But in terraria you stopped in the platform just before fall again nullifying the fall damage.

For people like me who can't afford more than 2 gigs of RAM (or a better computer overall, because RAM isn't my only issue), XP is really the only option I have. As for people saying that it's more unstable than Vista? I've used Vista AND 7 and XP is WAY, WAY more stable and resource-efficient than either of them.

I get that you people bashing on XP need something to feel superior about, but could you please stop trying to make it look like we're all a bunch of idiots for using it? We do have our reasons, even if they're not immediately apparent... Not everyone has the disposable income to pour into upgrades.

I am incredibly thankful for the fact that Chucklefish cares about their XP users, as well as their users in general.. I just wish other players were as accommodating, to say nothing of all of the other software developers that just tell you to upgrade rather than helping.

Pixels should be storeable, and platform falling should be improved.

    Screen Resize then Crash:

Thanks for the timely update! Runs well so far, but I did get a black-screen crash after selecting character once. I selected the character, then went over to my browser. The Starbound screen resized to about 800x640 (guessing) and stayed black and unresponsive. Force quit. Ran ok on next run.

Starbound is shaping epicly into an awesome game. I love this update (Irritated Koala)! Rebalances a lot of content (and the pixels >.<), and this makes me not regret buying Starbound the day the pre-order was avaiable! Keep it up Devs!

    My suggerences so far:

    Short Term:
    • Sheathed weapons: Just a "vanity" thing I guess. I love to see my char's weapon sheathed on his back (2-handed) or waist (1-handed). Maybe using the L/R action bar slots show the item assigned to them sheathed? If those slots are selected, the items will be unsheathed and shown as normal. It will be awesome to see your char running around with its 2-Handed weapon on his back, while using different tools or items *.*
    • Rotating planets (Background only): Just a Graphics candy. Seeing the planets on your star system rotate or orbitate in the background, with moon phases and things like that. Not important, but it can be cool as hell ^^
    • Climbing vines: 'nuff said! Just make the vines climbable =)
    Long Term:
    • Steam Cloud: This is a MUST. I mean, I got tired of playing Terraria, having my "So epic god-like mob boss smashing char" on my PC and then having to develop that char AGAIN on my laptop (yes yes, I know that you can copy a file and paste it blah blah blah). Cloud saving of our chars and universes will be awesome if implemented! ^^
    • Graphic Filters: I love Starbound as it is, but it could be cool to have some graphic filters to reduce pixelation (as shown in the forums by members) to give players the option of having a smooth or a pixelated Starbound experience ^^ This is planned and it will be implemented! =)
    • Steam Workshop: When the mod tools are reseased, this can be a good idea. Workshop is an amazing tool for sharing mods with everyone that plays a game. Skyrim or Audiosurf 2 are the best examples on how the community can enrich a game!
Just my two cents ^^ Starbound is looking awesome  Keep up the good work, and thanks to all the devs for their efforts to bring this jewel into life! =)

Just wanna ask, if you thought about something for storing our pixels inGame, or on ship or something? Would be nice to craft something later in Game, that we can hide the pixels and store'em not losing them every time ^^'

    *kiss* ;D

Meh agree with ZangooseSlash n' L0chlan2, those were discussed over forum earlier.
Also, "Reduced fuel costs a bit to go to other planets" - that actually is cool for beta, but I don't think that was necessary. Costs were great, this game need to be challenging from the start to the end ( I mean, I know it's just beta yet, but there was no problem with collecting some wood, going to your ship and fuel it up for going on )
    That's just my opinion :)

BTW guys, sry for reply out of theme, but:

Where can I sell my loot? And how to get Space Station?
I have near 3000 pixels and I just want to save it. It will be great to keep your pixels in chest for example.
