What an ignorant post. The game was advertised to run on XP. The devs are obligated. We paid for it, regardless if its beta, it should at least start up.

 

Will this update fix the startup crash for macs?

 

Fantastic! It's one thing that this already is my favorite game; it's another that the team is posting updates and working on all of the bugs that we, the community, are barking out like dogs. Keep up the good work! You guys are amazing!

 

Does this fix a lot of the problems that make the game literally unplayable for an unlucky bunch (which I am part of)

I strongly disagree with development time being wasted on supporting Windows XP. I do feel sorry for those who have refused or were unable to upgrade but XP is not up to modern standards of security nor APis for developers to use.

It is saddening to see that XP was announced as supported for the beta. This needs to be dropped going into Version 1 of the full game in my opinion.

 

I have never ONCE encountered a game that doesn't run on XP, in my experience.

Which is roughly ever since XP came out years of experience.

The only way a game won't run on my machine is if it uses DirectX 10/11/(insert fancy new version here), or I don't meet the specs.

More like they should have done so 3 years ago.
Windows XP was well past its expiry date even back when Win7 came out. The only reason people still used it is because the alternative was to use Vista, and Vista sucked majorly.
The original 32-bit XP was awful in terms of performance (not to mention unable to use more than 4GB memory) even back in the mid-2000s, but thankfully Windows XP x64 (which is actually a modified version of Windows Server 2003) provided a satisfactory alternative during the Vista years.

All the updates are great and all.. But i just want to ask, PLEASE dont make the start too easy just because people are complaining about it i think i started more than fine besides the huge loss of pixels on death. That change is fine. But all the stuff about making this and that easier is only going to take away from the amazing survival feeling of starting off on a hostile alien planet. And also the bandages with plant fibres thing.. I dont really understand why xD i managed to create more than enough bandages from fabric that i crafted that took very little time to make. I just dont want progression to be too much of a walk in the park. besides all this the game is everything and more i was hoping for, thank you guys a ton for this! The game is a blast!

All of this is moot anyway.

There is a fix in the works for Windows XP, whether you people wanna backseat dev/moderate on the fact or not.

If they truly can't get it working for XP, it's only like the second day of beta testing.

I believe in the devs.

What I used to believe in, was this community being open minded, friendly, and that we'd all shared hype and want of playing the game.

 

Um no. It was your fault for not upgrading an OS over a decade old (BTW your "facts" about XP are a load of BS I use XP on my father's PC every day) Not the development team. Yes you should be continued to be supported through the beta but that support should end going into the future.

You won't get a refund because you are going to get a working game through the beta. You are not entitled to free updates.

The problem is not now. The problem is as more problems arise that are due to how dated and out of standard XP has become. Development time which should be spent fixing other issues or improving the game is spent dealing with issues that would not exist had support for XP not have been declared.

 

I would, if I could. I noticed from your posts, that you are a person who believes the world oves you something. It does not. You have to use your own resources to deal with the problems you are given. Yet I know you will not listen so how about I........
