The damage system is already incredibly simple to understand... I honestly don't see how people are having trouble. It is also incredibly easy to get out of alpha sector if you progress properly - I have to wonder just what people are doing (or not doing) to find this game as hard as they claim it is.

Also, and this is just my opinion from my own experience, it's likely that people are using the ability to attack through walls (amongst other exploits/glitches) as a means to progress further than their armour allows, which (as far as I'm concerned) isn't how the game's progression should work. I know the people I play with (myself included) could, and would, go directly to the highest level planets and use cheap tactics to grab a high level weapon (disregarding where we should be at in regards to armour level) - the end result being 1 hit KO fights (either by us or the mobs).

So in my opinion it's not that this game is incredibly hard, it's that we were effectively changing the metagame into a fast progressing 1-Hit KO fest through the use of cheap tactics.

    //edit
I agree; Platinum is ridiculously hard to find (not being able to mine it and all) and the snow patrol gear is very easy to acquire, for armour that is superior to the gold tier armour.

i think and hope they are going to address certain problems with ore spawning/creature spawning with this update to correct the scaling - so they have to adjust the world creation algorithms. So the same coordinates wouldnt necessarily house the same planet after the update anymore.
I think thats the reason why characters needs to be restarted - if it would just be the change in the weapon system there wouldnt be a reason to delete the old characters.

So if im right there is no way they could do a character restart, but let you keep the worlds.

I'm really hoping healing items heal % health instead of X health if there's going to be lots of bonuses to max health. It could be very silly requiring 12 bandages or 10 minutes of sleep to heal back to full health.

It isn't more rewarding or expansive, its just a different number tacked on at the end.

By your logic, they could make the game much longer and much better if they made it a 10000 level system without changing anything, just numbering it 1-10000.

In the current game, if you know a few tricks, visiting planets that are a higher level turns it into mario, everything dies in 1-2 hits, including you. I was wearing snow infantry armor (you can get it BEFORE THE FIRST BOSS) on a level 40 planet with no issue at all. Dungeons are extremely easy, melee enemies have no chance, and ranged enemies get kited into a door and are killed. If you are playing the game optimally, you don't go one threat level up at a time, you just skip right to the hardest stuff, cheese some dungeon enemies until they drop a weapon, and then the playing field is even. The only part of the game where going up threat levels slowly makes sense is near the very end when threat levels determine which endgame ores spawn and in what quantity.

Also, have you gotten to the endgame tier yet?

Even wearing the best armor in the game, enemies kill you in two hits on a level 40 planet, and you need a randomly generated weapon from a dungeon to even the odds (something with 44 armor penetration.) That's just broken in my opinion.

The new system seems like it will be more rewarding because your character actually progresses and gets more health/damage instead of staying almost exactly the same throughout, things actually change, wearing the same set of cosmetic clothing throughout most of the game, I didn't feel like I was progressing at all. Same damage numbers, same looking armor and weapons, it got a little boring. Every time I found a new tech, I giggled with glee because it actually meant that gameplay would be a little bit different.

The game felt ridiculously easy, because it kind of was, You could probably kill every single enemy in the game with the starter sword given enough time. If they let you go to any planet you want right away, the game would only last about 30 minutes.

The new system just reduces the number of insta-kills on both ends, while making differences in level mean less. It seems like this may be a step in the wrong direction at first, but if you actually think about it, it makes the best way to play (go to the hardest threat level you can find, find a dungeon, kill enemies until you have the most overpowered weapon you can possibly get for your sector.) less viable and encourages real progression, whlie at the same time making progression feel better.

I hope they make some change on the rate to find a guns weapons too, cause when it's come to explore lvl 40 planet it's really hard to don't be killed, even with gravity bubble tech.I found 1 rare sniper lvl 39 pen,but my firends can do nothing......and if our armor have more impact on our def on pve i will not complain, cause the fact to be one shoted is fun when start ,and give you some motivation to have better armor, but even when hardly craft one ,you stil be one shoted?? then just never craft an armor and just weapons, cause armor is so usless, just for skin and you need lot of farm to get them, even dongeons you need to craft a wall to be able to kill a mob of your lvl???really?where is the fun to be one shoted ,or be able to one shot a mob just cause you have 2 penetration more then his lvl,to get fast farm on lvl 40 planet i just used gravity bubble and seach for chests on surfaces with weapons on it with 40 pen and electric effect to farm from range, and did this on 2 sectors cause you can't explore a planet without being one shoted.I like hard games and even if it's stay like it is i will play again, but it's not the case of all peoples.

I agree with fixing the attacking through the door. It is possible to dodge bullets, and would i think make the game better. I have found platinum a reasonable amount through digging. I too, don't see what is not to understand about the enemy difficulty. I am against enemy fall damage, because as ai, they need the handicap. if traps did damage, you could just place them on the other side of a door, so i guess i would be against them doing damage as well. all in all, love it.

Please tell me that it's not intended for the Hunting Knife to have no higher Tier Upgrades, & that those Upgrades are just awaiting Implementation... I don't wanna have no choice but to have to do my Meat Hunting with the Bow from Tier 2 onwards... :(

Is there an ETA on when Implementation of Farm Crops being able to grow without you staying near them the whole time is gonna get Implemented? Without this Implementation, Farming's very not worth the trouble because it'll pigeonhole ya into having to stay near it the whole time for it to work, thus getting in the way of exploration. (I've heard that Crops grow without needing to stay with them the whole time on the Ship... is this confirmed true...?)

I've test drove a Shotgun in-game... it totally sucks. It does way too little damage & knockback for how long it takes to regen Energy for another shot. The Assault Rifle's kinda cool though & my pal KS is liking the effectiveness & fun factor of Dual Wield Pistols.

There still seems to be issues with arrow & bullet hit box vs monster hit box issues going on... it seems like the top most part of the monsters don't answer to ranged damage hits, & that ya can sometimes hit the Monster with the same things by hitting a little bit below the feet sometimes... the Hit Box on the Monsters might need to be re-positioned up a tad. Also, Arrows that definitely seem to hit straight onto a Flying Monster can act like they did nothing... still hard pressed trying to determine if attacks on the Flying Monsters are landing on them yet sometimes failing to register, or if Lag is making what my eyes are seeing happen on the screen turn out to be a lie & if attacks that LOOK like they hit actually didn't.

How does a person know how to regard how Knockback will affect Monsters...? 1st tier Katana on my Dummy Hylotl knocks stuff back ok, but then I tried it out on Lvl 11 Moon Planet monsters & it couldn't even stop them from continuing to move forward... Once I got a Lvl 15 Steel Katana made, I was one shotting the lvl 11-12 Monsters again so I couldn't even tell if I was able to knock them back properly again till I tried it out on lvl 14ish nighttime monsters, then it turned out they were getting knockbacked ok again.

Oh, speaking of Moons. so awesome a place to explore... but Anomaly: I can run around on the Moon without suffocating in seconds, yet I can't seem to discern any noticeable amount of Atmosphere. There's even a whole Apex Village full of Apex that seem to also have no trouble breathing.

Anomaly: I can loot Platforms, Lights, Doors, & such things from aforementioned Apex Village, & none of the NPCs are giving a buggers about it & are blowing it off. This on the List of 'awaiting implementation'?

Anomaly: If Monsters attack me, & run into the aforementioned Apex Village in the process, people talk & message as if I'M the culprit, though the Guards don't attack me & treat me like i'm the threat. Also, the Guards oddly enough mind me from a decent distance away if they catch me holding a weapon, yet Monsters have to get quite close to them before the Guards react to them... sometimes, the Guards even didn't react to the Aggressive Monsters until the Monster hit the Guard first.

    I have a proposition for proper beta-wipe:
Can you wipe my char and universe, but keep my resources stored on ship?

Only whis one location with chests.
You can delete some unballanced items, but keep my ores and furniture.
I don't want to start it all over again and again, it should be a way to keep some progress.

I want to keep my resources or I will not update the game.

The way Tiy worded it, it sounds simply like "Sectors will each have planets from threat 1 - 10, monsters on each planet will no longer have a personal level, instead they will be rated easy/medium/hard within the context of that planet's threat level".

Yet somehow you all seemed to think that he meant an entire sector would be one threat level, and other similarly ridiculous conclusions.

So you'll have to say I beat a Sector Omega 10 planet instead of a "lvl 100 planet". Oh dear! It's all completely ruined now! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

I dont know if you know about the cracks on this game you should really do something about it with a password and username and about the crack people would they get reset too? Cause if they dont it would be pretty unfair to people who played a lot and is getting reset, then how about the people who didnt pay are they awarded for not paying?

One of the points to wipes like these is so that people replay the beginning & test out how the game progression plays out from beginning to later on with the new way things are working to determine how well the current strategy works. if EVERYONE simply picked up where they left off, there would then be no available Feedback on how the beginning of the game plays out, thus how will the game ever get more polished? ;)

Are you one of those people that are playing Stage 1 Beta & trying to treat it like a Full Game & having no intention to actually help with the bug finding or development process?

If you make a binding reservation to the shell or enter an option as thick skin? for example, the monster without a shell, will be without the armor, and with a carapace or with a thick skin with the armor. Sorry for my English, I use a translator.
