    You do realize that they are removing levels completely right? There isn't going to be a range of 1-10 of planets in the same way it was 1-100 before, it will simply be 10 sectors(tiers), and in each sector planets will be easy, medium, or hard (they may not actually say easy/medium/hard).

    yea, its cool to say i beat a level 100 planet, but is it cool to say i beat a level 92 planet? what about 43? 77? Most of the in between levels aren't special at all. In the new system, you would actually say "i beat a hard(or whatever its called) planet in sector 10". Idk that sounds just as cool, if not even better.

    I dont think that the game will tell you a difficulty rating according to your gear level, I am guessing what they will do is simply divide planet levels into three per sector and thats the rather mild expectation.

    What I really understand from what Tiy said is that in a sector, say Beta, there will be no difficulty rating for planets, instead only the monsters will have a rating.
    Meaning that all the planets in a sector will be same and you will encounter monster from easy to hard difficulty on a single planet.

    thats what I understand from it, what they mean may be different

    I have a suggestion,
    I think it's still really mess with all the sorts of Dirt blocks and all the other blocks and stuff,
    may you could make the second bag size infinite but then only for this kind of blocks and subdivide with the begining letters in a raster and maybe a color icon.

    I think that would be great and much clearer.

    I never said it will tell you the difficulty based on what you have equipped, i was explaining how you gauge the difficulty level in the game right now. Also, no, there wont only be three "levels" per sector. sector 1 can range in numbers from 1 - 2 (1.1,1.2,1.3, etc) in difficulty, which can give the exact same result as sector 1 having levels 1-10 (1, 2, 3, etc).

    You understood wrong, and I wouldn't be surprised if you're not the only one.

    of course, I could also be the one understanding wrong LOL. Would be nice if Tiy explained things a bit more clearly, hopefully the patch is due to drop today.

    :) well I dont know if it will be better, but anyway, we will see it when it comes. If the new system sucks they would just change it again, its beta afterall.

    I think it's just the number of increments there are for the planet levels that are concerning people. If it is indeed 1-1.9, 2-2.9, etc., then people shouldn't be complaining about the imaginative decrease in content with smaller variety in planet difficulty. Though I am one to agree that it just "feels" as though there's more to do with more planet level variety.

    The problem is, the update hasn't come out yet. It's just about pointless to discuss our opinions on the new update because we can't even agree on what exactly Tiy meant on certain points lol. I say we call a rain check on the discussions on which version is better until it actually comes out and we can check it out firsthand XP

    The bottom line is, when you one hit every enemy, but every enemy also one hits you, something needs re-balancing. I'm looking forward to this.

    I totally agree. My chief complaint wasn't armor penetration (I actually thought that was interesting and new. Shame to see it being discarded so quickly), but my biggest issue was the armor you had yourself was busted. No matter blocks and scarcity of titanium and platinum at the proper levels made it so you had to SKIP entire armor sets and planet levels in order to get to a point where you could create the gear you needed to not get one shot.

    Loot is so unrewarding in this game it almost feels like diablo 3. It would be nice to see random loot beat the default crafting weapons. Also, I know there's an emphasis on crafting armor. However, the leather armor is only suitable for early cold planets. Will there be more leather recipes for higher level leather armor to endure the high tier cold planets? Maybe unique gear could drop in dungeons or mini-bossess too?

    The recommended OS for Windows on the Steam store page is "Windows XP or later" so it really isn't our fault for wanting the game to work on WinXP, I for one cbfed re-downloading all of my Steam games just to get Win 7.

    Personally I like the armor penetration system somehow. It was a feature to get used to, but after I got the hang on it, it was totally nice. Had something unique to it. But I'm also looking forward to test the new system and compare it to the AP-System. Reducing the Threat-Levels from 100 to 10 sounds like a good Idea though. I think it will be easier to keep an overview and keep track of your progress. Can't wait to test all that out, even with the Rollback. : 3

    Hi. guys ( especially DEVS) . Something COMPLETELY WRONG with MultiPlayer . It doesnt work. But In 1 beta version it worked . The problem is - I CANT OPEN PORT 21025. What should i do? Or what should you do, DEVS? starbound 2013-12-08 13-14-56-34.jpg

    I completely agree with what you are saying, this game would benefit greatly from unique challenges plotted along the way that yield decent loot, also in you could slowlt make your ship bigger than it might be worth while, provide you could customise it with the new things, im finding it tedious to set up a base, then hop to the next sector..... only to then have to pack up and then rebuild said base.

    I hope this update has monster speed/HP and elemental resist/weakness added into the generation factor, having to seek out a world that has beasts your weapons can fully explot (instead of just 100hp mobs and their threat level) would be a lot of fun, like two handed hammer wielders could seek out slow uber high hp monsters, dual dagger types seek out faster weaker enemies etc.

    Add more crafting drops from monsters based on their element/skills or whatever and you'd be making this fun game 100x more fun, not to mention giving more rewarding reasons to explore multiple planets, instead of just "poop this place has no platinum" after digging for hours. Maybe I'm just in the minority here but to have almost no option other than endlessly digging for ore just to make armour instead of monster hunting for it gets old.

    Keep the big numbers and fix the way Armor Pen works.

    Don't simplify the game for those of us who can do math.

    I liked the current system, as its rather unusual, and unique in a way because of that. Problem with "One-shoting" and getting "One-shotted" felt kinda weird though.
    Im up for the new system.
    But, in my opinion, current one could work too, but with rebalancing on how armour penetration and your armour affect damage dealt/recived. Right now damage curve is extreme - having weapon that has AP 4 levels higher than common moster will "one-shot" it, and armour that you can get in same Tier get usualy in middle of level (5 armour for 1-10), meaning that top level of that Tier (10) will have same "one-shot" deal, or atleast close to it.

    Also it would be nice if whole Damage/Armour/Penetration/Health thing would be explained to player in game somehow.
