    I think that Kyren said in the launch stream that there is a technical limitation how far back they can support, due to apple and their compiler versions. If I remember correctly she said that they might be able to push it down to 10.7 but that below that it would get increasingly complicated or impossible.

    I'm just upset with the fact that I can't play it with all the bugs
    Low FPS its killing me :cry::cry::cry:

    EDIT: I mean I wanna play with bugs and help with them but I'm having problems with low FPS. So I cant help :/

    Can't wait to start over on a brand new adventure! Nothing of value will be lost -- you all got where you were in three days, you can certainly get back to it in three more. I'm in for the long haul, a few days is nothing.

    There reseting everything cause they are changing the level system which would mean that your characters armor and weapon would not work in the new patch.
    The problem your having is that the guns don't stop dropping tell the beta sector and even more frequent after level 20.

    Which is really silly in my opinion. You should be able to find low Tier guns from the very start. Just relatively rare compared to finding spears and such.

    I'd argue that it's certainly not fair that those lowbie snipers that gib you from across the map, they invariably drop an commoncrappysomething. At least make em drop an uncommoncrappygun.

    I don't know whose idea it was to make bows a thing in this game though. And seriously, you can't make a bow out of iron. Just make them slugthrowers, or add a phaser basic gun recipe to the replicator 3d printer. Something that will need a few hundred pixels but will work for hunting.

    In my opinion, I thought the jumping felt too floaty, but I got a bit used to it by then. I also hope you guys decrease the gravity's acceleration when on small planets because, well, that's how the universe works.

    Well its expected since its beta and I'm trying not to get too attached to my character but I know it will be for the best in the end :)

    If your asking why it is not open beta, well quit simply it is early beta, the people you want testing and making suggestions for your game in barely out of alpha state is the people who are interested enough in your game to have already given you the money for a product they don't yet have and know they won't have for some time. Open beta gets treated more like a demo then it does a beta and you get a lot more useless feedback from people who may never buy your game because of getting a bad taste in their mouth from early beta major bugs, when and if there is going to be an open beta it will probably be much nearer to release of the game.

    If your asking why they don't have a server that gives you root/admin/super user command line prompts to test out different skills and gear and what not, quit simply its still to early in beta to be offering that when the first stages is generally balancing (both of damage and loot/mining drop rates) and major bug fixes. If you allow people to go in and just spawn 1,000 Platinum to make gear to skip straight to mid game content, then you don't get the input of wither or not there is enough or too much of certain ores, wither the mobs are tough but fair for the mats you can find prior to getting to planet x or not. There is still a lot to do prior to allowing people to test how Pulse Jump + Butterfly boost in conjunction with a speed and jump height boost can break the game where doing so sends you directly to the planets core due to a jump height bug when you mix that combination of skills/effects together that may or may not happen if you add or remove another effect/skill.

    In short the answer to your question wither it be about why beta isn't open to people who have not bought the game or wither it be why they don't give people admin rights to spawn in items at their will, it is because there are other things that need testing other then how the level 40 planets are that can not be tested with that implemented, in short its possible they do one or both of those things eventually, but not this early in beta since they need other data first.

    If you are using OSX 1.6.8 or OSX 1.7, I think you may have to upgrade to Mvericks. Playing Starbound on Mavericks, 23 hours of gameplay with 1 crash.

    Anyone know why starbound & xpadder wont work? I made a badass profile, but when im in starbound, it acts like xpadder isnt eve running. Using xpadder 5.7

    I am ok with this, so long as it does not dumb down the combat mechanics end game, because I kind of liked the levels displaying and difficulty I don't think its hard to work out in it's current state though it just needed to do a better job of showing the player how effective you currently are vs another. so I understand this change, there are obviously other solutions which would not take away from the challenge or RPG flavour. 1-10 levels would be easier to manage but I just feel it makes the combat flat since you effectively just do what is the most boring in terms of difficulty scale by "throwing more HP" onto something.

    Which is why I liked the current system while its not perfect it hold potential for deeper mechanics to be added without simply resorting to the just throwing more HP onto something to define how hard it is to kill and making a flat weapon stat system which says this weapon is better above all others, since right now what I like is the fact that more wep base dmg does not always mean its a better weapon which imo actually is a step towards a more engaging combat system then simply going for the highest number.


    You could take the armor penetration and the weapon base dmg then calculate its actual damage then using the math of this colorize the level indicator on the mob tooltip according to your effective ability to defeat said monster, Green - Yellow would be easy to moderate threat to you, and Orange - Red would be equal to a challenge or near impossible. It would also be possible to allow one to upgrade the weapon tier with say 1-5 tiers which would affect its base weapon damage and penetration. I realize this is much more complicated to balance but could be more fun for the player.

    Hopefully more combat mechanics are coming I was under impression this going to be a RPG like spiritual successor to terraria. I would like to know the thoughts of others, what is your take on the current damage model and would you prefer a more complex or bland model?
