Next April, someone said. Not sure on accuracy, but assuming this is correct. Even so, Chucklefish is trying to make it work on XP regardless, so I truly hope they can do it for people running older rigs, but if they can't... Time for a new rig. Or OS.

EDIT: Yes I know my earlier rant pointed at people with older rigs/OS'. I wasn't saying I don't think Chucklefish shouldn't try to fix it not working on XP, just that people with XP getting mad at the devs, and swearing and ripping them down, is wrong.

 

It might fix with more RAM, I also run on Windows 8, with integrated graphics, im not sure what to tell you dude, wish i could help.

 

What if we had some "solo" monsters, who tend to go it alone, but are somewhat more powerful than pack monsters, while the pack monsters are a bit weaker to compensate for fighting an entire pack? would add some variety to the "fight two monsters and continue on your merry way"



I'm totally on board with this whole plan though. I wasn't a fan of the "armor penetration" basically being levels. I would prefer sharp weapons to have more armor pen than blunt weapons. overall, though, I'm really enjoying this beta! already spent 24+ hours on it

 

Damn, no more lvl 100 planets huh? It honestly feels better to say "Hey, lets check out this lvl 100 planet" then "Hey, lets go check out this lvl 10 planet over and over again." Oh well, I was at least hoping for them to find an alternative way to balance the game then to overhaul the damage mechanic completely. At least it won't be a "who can one shot each other first battle".

 

It is Feb 2014 is the EOL (End of Life). That is per the Microsoft.

 

It is going to be a long beta period so I am sure eventually XP will leech some development time. However once Microsoft drops free security updates for XP. That is a good time for the dev team to go ahead and bump the requirement up to atleast Vista.

 

I dont think of them as levels, i think of them as tiers, so rather then saying "Lets go check out this lvl 10 planet" Think, "Lets check out this Tier 10 planet!".

 

Wouldn't a level 10 planet still be within tier 1? Or are they changing the entire dynamic like that?

 

not everyone can afford to update their rigs, don't have the problem myself(i've got a window's 7 system), but alot of people with XP's probably have more important things to spend their cash on.(food, rent, bills, etc.)

 

I told myself not to get attached to my BETA character...but when I hit random name generator and it spit out "Twerkwaver" for my Hylotle....well....I just wanna continue twerkin it between the stars!

 

i think the dynamic is going to be 10 levels per sector.(alpha 1-10, beta 1-10, etc) but that's just speculation.

As do we all, really, I mean have better things to spend money on. But I'll tell you a quick story. I (foolishly) waited ever since Diablo 2 for Diablo 3. The day it finally came out, I found out my computer couldn't even run the bloody thing. I was broke, and had no choice but to play the game on a friends computer until I could get one of my own decent enough to play it. By then of course, I realized how utter crap Diablo 3 was, but the point is still the same. I know Starbound doesn't have the same graphics quality of Diablo 3, but if your computer can't play it, there's not a whole lot you can do about it. It's not like I wrote Blizzard and got mad because my own computer was so outdated it couldn't run it.

 

It just sucks that I'm having trouble with a relatively low graphics game

Can play Skyrim without problems

Finishee Batman Arkhan Origins last month without low FPS

Can't wait for the engine to be upgraded so I can play foreveeeer

 

Yeah it's not that you're not powerful enough for sure. It's likely that it's just an optimization issue.

Though I don't think it'll change anything and it's a far cry, you could try running the game in 32-bit mode.

Do whatever you gotta do, guys. I knew the risks of joining the first stage of Beta so I'm not upset with the wipe and I am excited for the new tweaks / features being presented in the update.

 

Totally stoked about the leveling update and hope to see more random-generation of weapons in soon to come patches D
