I think adjusting levels from 1-100 to 1-10 will allow us to travel to more planets earlier on without getting pasted. Sounds like fun to me!

To add to his hypothesis, I believe the level 1-10 system is being misunderstood. I do not believe it's spread out among Tiers like it currently is, I believe Alpha sector has lv1-10 planets, Beta has 1-10 planets, etc. It's a closed span of difficulty that encompasses each individual sector, not the universe as a whole were Alpha has only lv1 planets, Beta only has lv2, etc..

I'm sure they're going to think of something like drills or mining lasers and such down the line. :D

I hope we can see a monsters difficulty by hovering the cursor over them, not too found of pre-maturely attacking something way outta my league.

Found a really weird bug (Or is this supposed to be?). Sometimes a random planet appears at the home coordinates and later disapears, if you travel to this planet and quit game, then next time this planet could be gone in the ship radars, which means that if you made a base there then it's gone now... :/ . Anyone else encountered this? Once i had a bluescreen (Memory_management) so maybe it corrupted my world, but didn't had any other problems since then

Multiplayer isn't broken. If you know how to fix your ports, you can do it easy. Hamachi is not the magical "everything" fix. I haven't used it in years because it's entirely unreliable. I have 2 friends I currently play with who can connect to me with 0 issues.

Look up a 'proper' guide on Port Forwarding. If you do it correctly, it WILL work. The only reason people can't connect in games like these is because their ports are not correctly allowing people through (Or firewalls).

If worse comes to worst, look up setting up a DMZ on your computer. This opens every single port you have. I don't recommend this for safety reasons, but if you're only wanting to play with friends for a short time, it's easy to turn a DMZ on for that long then turn it off once the session is done.

The idea sounds good, but im afraid there would a lot less variety of random generated stuff with that 100 level to 10 level change.

I'm still not entirely sure I want this or not. Because I don't know if that means GREATLY varying difficulty per planet or not. (Because I actually liked it that way.)

Not every planet is going to be peaches and bananas. And not every planet is going to be a hostile wasteland filled with bandits, lava, and deathworms.

If that is indeed how it will work I will likely be happy with the new system. That is just not what I got out of his post and I am skeptical that you are correct. I hope you are right though, time will tell.

keep in mind that it is 1-10 per sector and that sec 2 lvl 1 is going to be that of sec 1 lvl 10

Hmm, maybe first fix the game for the people who keep crashing before it even starts, and not adding additional "mumbo jumbo", but its still cool otherwise!

That system is no different from how it is right now, just the numbers are displayed differently.

Every sector will have one base level of difficulty. The mobs will get more difficult with more hp and hopefully other aspects such as abilities, movement types, etc. as night comes or you venture deeper or higher on the planet. Every planet in the sector will have the same difficulty level.

Just leave it alone for now. They are trying to create an easier to understand difficulty scaling system, and this will just be the base line. If things need to get more random or harder, they will do that.

Why do people keep saying this? The variety will be the same. The only difference is that mobs will not have varied levels of defense / attack in the sector. Defense is being replaced with varied amounts of health, and attack strength maybe varied, but that would come in more during putting in the final touches to the game and balancing all the strange abilities the enemies can have.

I'll pitch in with those saying that we are a bit concerned that this will dramatically reduce the amount of variation in the game in terms of difficulty. I actually really like the current level system in some ways, at least in tier one, where you can fairly quickly get some basic armor to be good at the low-ranking planets of tier one, but have a really hard time with the higher threat ones.

I'm fine with a big system change, but I'd like to keep seeing a wide range of difficulty progression *within* each given tier. As long as they preserve that, I'm fine with it. Im just concerned that easy/medium/hard will not provide enough variation, because I actually like how hard the game is just at the moment. Perhaps adding more variation on weapons and armor would do the trick - Right now, we see generally two ranks of items in each tier - that is, mid-tier and end-of-tier placements for armor penetration, which kind of results in 3 groupings of effectiveness, i.e. just-started-but-dont-quite-have-good-enough-damage, I-can-hold-my-own-now, and haha-you-guys-are-a-joke.

Ok, maybe thats NOT that different than easy/medium/hard now that Ive thought it out....

No reason to apologize, i think it is good we are ironing out some of the wrinkles, so wipe away i say. :p
I do however have a few concerns, with the combat AI being kind of limited, won't the same level monsters in a sector make them kind of dull to fight?

Also the whole grind until you can build an item that can summon a boss gets old quick, couldn't we possibly have some more variation in bosses, or even no bosses but objectives or the like for some sectors?

Maybe it would also be an idea to dump the whole tier progression and instead make the universe progress and expand with the players? So you could even keep a favored pet weapon with you?

    Just my few cents. :)

well they did say don't get attached to ur charicters for chances of chariter wips and that they will happen more freqwintly at the start and get less freqwintly as we get close to full relase

Hi Zanebot! Now, before someone stabs you for suggesting such a thing, let me tell you that the reason many people play this game is because of the progression feel, because of the claims that there will be ten tiers of gameplay. That gives the game/universe a sense of epicness and vastness that you just don't get if you say that the universe'll expand with you. Each tier means a fresh start: a new mark in a new universe. It is a great feeling, and adds to the exploration sense of it all.

I meant in the planned patch every planet will be the same difficulty within each sector. There will be no going to a medium or hard difficulty planet. There is just Sector 1 planets, sector 2 planet, sector three planets... etc. The difficulty will increase within the planets. As you dig deeper you will find the medium and hard monsters. This means that means that every single planet you go to (in every single sector) there will be easy monsters to greet you on the surface. Every planet will be the same difficulty.

I don't know about you but this sounds horrible.

Hey Tossing! Welcome to the forums!

Now, about progression, Tiy said that "esay, medium, hard" markers only applied to creatures! Not to planets! So, creatures will still have a "level," (perhaps in terms of health, attack...) it just won't be displayed that way. This of course means that you'll have to first beam down to a planet to explore and see if it's for you, which would make sense. After all, how many sci-fi movies started with the crew knowing that there was a giant squid lurking on a seemingly deserted asteroid?

By simplification, Tiy means that he'll make the game easier to understand. Not by simplifying the content itself.
