    Nooo :'( not the chucklefish!
I'm not sure why it's still getting stuck for you, but I would suggest letting _Sammy_ know that it's not working for you in the thread and supply your comp specs/crash file so that when the actual update comes out it he will hopefully have looked into that and fixed it.

Should consider getting a new OS anyhow, that thing's 14 years old and only still supported because some large corporations refused to upgrade. But Microsoft is dropping support for it in June(I believe? Might be a month later) 2014. Meaning you will no longer get updates. A lot of software developpers have stopped supporting the OS officially 2-3 years ago.

goodbye fluffy white sword that shoots out bubbles of death... ):

I hope that the game difficulty is not affected by this change, I like the game to be an enjoyable challenge, because I like to read everything and take my time, I like to spend forever playing the game and enjoy my progression, I do not like to have something awesome go to waste, I do not want the first boss to be any less difficult, I took my time and got what I thought was right to defeat that boss, I put effort into his defeat and by the gods, I defeated it, and it was fun.

I enjoy having the option to test my skills on higher level planets...

I have not had any problems with being KO'd by mobs... But i have clocked over 2 days worth of hours into the game and have not ventured to the next sector yet, I am enjoying time in the first zone, because there's soo many planets I have yet to pillage....

so cheers on updates, just hope you guys are doing what you feel is right for your game <3

Hmm... interesting tactical experiment. If this does indeed cause a character wipe, not too awful bad timing on it for me, cause i'm having much trouble surviving my current Lvl 5 Desert Planet, & think I have played enough to have a rough idea on how to do better next playthrough. I assume this means that Tier 1 Sectors are gonna be a billion Lvl 1 Planets, Tier 2 Sectors are gonna be a ton of lvl 2 Planets, etc...? & I guess if this experiment fails, we can always go back to the current strategy or try something else.

I've been having a hell of a hard time surviving damage from the Lvl 5-6 Monsters on this Lvl 5 Desert Planet i'm on with my Dummy Hylotl i've been playing while having the Hylotl 'puddle cap' helm, the same tier pants, & a Copper Chestplate/piece-whatever it's called. More Health would be appreciated, even if it was a slow incremental boost, like maybe 10 HPs of boost per Armor Tier Level. (I assume this would cause a Health Level of Unarmored=100 HPS, Tier 1 Armor full set= 110 HPs, Tier 2 Armor full set= 120 HPS, etc...)

I have tactical concerns about removing Armor from the Monsters & making Health the only boost they get. If ya do this, you will make Armor Penetration a broken gimp stat to have on a weapon & force Weapons with higher damage to be flat out superior for PvE use & force Weapons that favor high Armor Penetration Values... oh wait, the Update said Armor Penetration was being removed, didn't it. NM, i'm still trying to wake up. It's gonna be goofy to have Monsters with Anatomy Features like Shells & such to be exactly as easy to beat up as Monsters that are all flesh or such. :p

Oh, interesting possible idea: If Monster Hitbox Detection ever gets strong enough to where a Monster & its 'Parts' that are Procedurally Generated together & assembled into the whole monster could also its Armor Value calculated per body part, then maybe Armor Penetration could return in a new way: Parts like Beaks or Shells that would naturally be made of a hard substance could be built with Armor Values & high enough Armor Values would outright prevent damage that hit that part, & Armor Penetration on Weapons & such would fight against this & try to damage such body parts through the Armor. This could create an interesting dynamic where Weapons that are designed for stronger natural damage but lower or outright minimal armor piercing would be 'encouraged' to aim for the vulnerable parts of a Monster but do high damage to those vulnerable parts, like a Turtle Monster's Neck or Tail, whereas Weapons with high Armor Penetration but not as high natural damage would have the utility of being good to fight Armored Foes with via having damage that a foe's Shell or Beak or such could not fully stop thus enabling a Player to consider favoring a Play Style built around being less needy of aiming their shots more precisely. Food for thought...?

    I find it strange that they have yet to mention the Mac crash issue that many are still experiencing: on the main page. Only the Xp one. I have been following this almost since the beginning. And have yet to play the game due to the mac issue. {Sorry if I sound a bit rude}

For the love of the game, Tiy, please don't tweak the game so much that it becomes easy. The fact that it can be unforgiving at times is a definite draw for me, and helps immerse me in a universe that doesn't care that I'm stranded on a strange planet.

While I agree to a point on the damage system, simplification does not always make something better.

    Anyway, great job so far!

But why would you ever explore other planets now? There's nothing to do there if there's no new gear to find. I mean, finding various buildings/dungeons is fun, but there's no real reason to risk the exploration if there's nothing to be gained.

How about instead of 100 levels we could perhaps have like 50 or 60 or even 80.

you could also keep armor but it should have two stages. a static protection rating that is directly effected by level and a percentage damage reduction. for instance if you wear armor that is 1 level lower than the monster you are fighting the effectiveness of your armor is reduced by 25% up until your armor is negated entirely the exact opposite is possible as well. the same can be said for weapons, also some weapons and armors such as uniques should have several stages where they can be upgraded incrementally to much highers levels and also receive stat modifiers and effects, this is all off the top of my head so its a work in progress.

Looking foward to test the new system, but so far the current one has no flaws except the obvious balancing issues which are no suprise during a beta.

Will you be wiping the worlds as well? Cause if not then if you really want to save your progression you can just set up a bunch of chests on a planet, save the coodinates and then go there on your new character after the wipe and pick up all your stuff.

Gotta say it was pretty awesome when I realised I could visit the village I build with one character with another character.

I imagine if the save file format were publicly available, whether through reverse engineering or a release from Chuckfish, someone would be able to write a utility to convert old saves to new formats. By simply releasing the information to the community and allowing them to take it from there, it provides an excellent way to reduce the number of wipes without giving the development team too much extra work as simply releasing something they probably already have documented would be far easier than writing a conversion utility. Besides, I'm fairly certain there are already dozens of people here that could reverse engineer the save file and write the utility, and hundreds more that could just write the utility if they had the file format available to them.

Better yet, instead of getting rid of 1-100 just use intervals of 10 for the 1-10, in the meanwhile, if your going through with it as you will have saved much time in work rewriting all the code and have more time to consider the rework of the whole system as to make sure that "it is not set in stone" that the system is 1-10 because I have seen many other suggestions that seem reasonable to make the functionality a bit simpler in the learning curve as to not "dumb down" the system as a whole.

I was looking forward to having the earlier tiers balanced a little more, but really uncertain if this.. drastic a change is going to result in that.
It seems a tad toward more.. simplification then.. balancing is what concerns me. I don't mind a game being complex or deep or even hard solong as there is some curve.

Believe it or not I'm most concerned about those who wanted constant challenges. I thought balancing would happen for early tier numbers.. 1-11-21.. those lower ones and the tens and the like would be towards the other extreme.

I'm not knocking this, willing to give it a shot and all that.. I just don't those who want a harder run to be locked out from it. :)
