if you look above you that's exactly what I just said.. devs are just doing this so it's easier from them.. but I still like old system better.

I think this is fair. I had a Arm pen 20 on a sword and was killing things with one shot.

Though I'd much rather you focus on fixing the 'error loading asset' crash that pops up whenever travel takes place.

In my view the changes over all will be better with a complete revamp, they will be able to add more interesting characteristics to weapons and armor without one base factor being the main deciding factor for everything. Armor Penetration and Armor should not be the main deciding factor on choosing what to use when there is SUCH a vast variety out there in the game. You can think it is them being lazy or whatever but they know what they are doing and will be changing, balancing and adjusting things constantly and majorly throughout the next few months.

Agree with the post in general except that XP users shouldn't have to wait until "Release" to get to try the game. That's a little... silly. I am in no way saying "XP USER GET PATCH NAOW!" or some such drivel. I'm saying that at some point XP users will need to test the game out too, at some stage in the beta. Else how will they know what bugs would pop up on that OS? If they're going to have it work on XP at some point, XP needs to test it "at some point". Tiy put something to that effect in his earlier post as well, Bartwe was working hard (TY BART!) on a fix for the XP crash (incompatibility) issue and it may be released with the new patch or it may be released the next day. This was of course, before Tiy put this little ditty up on the site.

Thank you all for all the hard work, love the game and the music is just awesome~ I've a small question of my own though I suspect it may have been answered (will hunt!).. those of us that already purchased the SB OST - when and where do we get the updated version? The humble bundle page didn't appear to have the updated download for it.

I actually already fixed the old system by modding it. I found the armor values of the highest possible armor you could craft before fighting a boss to unlock the next tier was too low. I increased armor values by 5-10 on each armor. So for lvl 1-30 armor you could create armor about 5 levels higher than the boss you needed to kill to unlock the next tier. This didn't make bosses too easy, you could still die pretty quickly but you wouldn't be always getting 1 shot.

I also fixed plat and titanium so that titanium was rare and plat was plentiful (and on the planet levels ya needed them on, I.E. You could find them on lvl 20-30 worlds)

I also wanted to allow diamonds to spawn at a very low rate on planets but didn't know if I could do that. (I.E. If diamonds are even available to be spawned in planets)

I think that 10 sectors with 10 planet levels will be awesome if it works progressively ( sect 1 planet 10 < sect 2 planet 1).

Can you guys make random things random, I mean, can you end threads like this? (http://community.playstarbound.com/...tes-for-the-casual-player.40105/#post-1404880)

Btw, can you guys add the "Delete Character" button? ._.

Nice job putting that "Loading" screen on game start, now my gf dont blame that the game is slow :)

I'm sorry I should have said you are GUARANTEED the game crash free when the game comes out. I doubt there is anyway in heck that the problem will go on for that long. We are on the same page. I want you all the XP people playing too, but the developers know there is a problem so there is no point in pushing the patch issue.

I understand why the armor penetration system is in place... but I'm personally not fond of it. It feels needlessly overcomplicated to me now that you explained it. It'd make more sense to have just flat damage and enemies have defense that varies on level. The armor pen system just feels like a lot of balancing issues and hair-pulling for nothing.
I understand that you guys are trying to make a unique game, but I have to point out that unique =/= better. And as I said, a simple attack/defense system would work way better (and easier) than what you're currently doing. Armor pen in general should just be armor ignoring.

Overall, it'd be less complicated, way easier to understand, and wouldn't create absurd difficulty curves that the players can't keep up with. On top of that, maybe it's just me... but trying to prevent having high damage numbers just doesn't feel even remotely as satisfying. In just about any game, if you get a weapon that boosts you from doing 25 damage to 45 damage, IT FEELS GOOD. Except.... well, you're trying to prevent bigger increases like 90 to 130 and whatever, and to some degree, the issue I have with that is you don't feel like you're actually getting any stronger to face stronger foes. Maybe I'm just weird like that, but seeing those bigger damage numbers makes me feel like my character is actually stronger.

But that's just my two cents.

    Kitsunami Void-Bound Voyager

    I like the stuff.

But id like to add the same request as others:

With the new level sets, can we PLEASE get monster variety in strength. Not without reason, but a variable of say..within +2 (as its now only going to level 10) levels of the planet were on chance to spawn bigger stuff.

So that level 3 desert planet that your on with your level 6 gear suddenly isnt quite so safe anymore.

I dont want to get to level 5 gear and find out that anything below level 5 planets is now boring and dull because its all never gonna spawn anything threatening, if you guys know what i mean.

At this point im really worried that we will get bored of exploring sectors because 'nothing ever spawns there below x tier' So, we might end up abandoning Sector alpha entirely because it has nothing left to offer. This could be solved by introducing further rare-spawn elements of unique items, cosmetics and stuff in the lower tiers. So, yes, your in Tier 10 gear+weapons, but your still looking in Sector Alpha at planets because you really want that special item.

Not sure if you can even do this but...perhaps you could introduce a rarer spawn ratio to the planets. (I.E every now and then perhaps a planet spawns in Tier 2 that has Tier 4 materials but in super small amounts?)

I would really like to see indicators though!

    'what is available'

I would like to be able to research/find out whats available somehow. Because as it is, we run into a wall of 'okay we have all of this now where do we go'

I dont mean hand-helding, its obvious weve unlocked sectors but...what are we looking for? A guide-equivalent (like terraria, please dont flame) would be fantastic.

Perhaps the computer can research possible blueprints and list them from a huge stack of items and consume them?

example: Give 100 iron = Get 100 possible iron recipes. Dont actually get the recipes, but you now know they exist to search for them.

Shouldnt show anything secret, or above green quality. No rares at all basically.

I completely agree with you but as they said it's beta and the game's second update, I guessing the team doesn't have enough experience with this kind of problem for it to be sorted out at the time, and if they do they may not have enough time or something to do such a thing.

In general, I'm against this kind of system. I feel that it simplifies weapon progression too much. I've seen other people mention that the like the idea of identifying weapon progression with armor penetration (AP) versus raw weapon damage. I don't think is necessarily the write direction to go on this matter, but I don't like the idea of making the weapon progression purely linear (attack power and attack speed are the only stats you care about versus caring about a combination of the three). I guess in general I feel the gear system is very simplified. Maybe that's what Starbound needs, but it feel like it eliminates a lot of choice in gearing.

I think it is a better representation of how gearing should be eventually, but I'm not convinced yet that it is the best method.

Edit: I just wanted to reiterate again that this is a step in the right direction. I didn't have a problem with the previous progression, but I was only on around 20ish level. I was ok with monsters being tough because I was underleveled for the content. I'm still ok with higher level content with feeling like things hit harder because they are legitimately stronger, not because your gear isn't up to snuff.

Microsoft ends support for it in 2014. Then who do they want to complain to? A windows 7 PC costs about 300 dollars to play this game at Wal Mart. Get over it
