Wiki lists "augmentation" as a feature somewhere down the line, so hopefully "warming" is one of them... or some sort of back item that provides warmth.

I keep seeing windows XP and apple people in here upset that the hotfix isn't coming fast enough. Think about it though. With an update as big as the one they are now planning, theres going to be a -lot- of changes to the code. Its almost guaranteed that there will be more compatibility issues once this update rolls out, and its far simpler to deal with them all at once when everything is said and done. They could fix the XP compatibility issues now, but some unforeseen consequence of the next update could completely screw it up again, and then they will have wasted time. Its not worth doing it till this update is out, unfortunately.

And in regards to the people saying they paid for a game that is supposed to be XP compatible, yes, yes you did. But they promised this compatibility -at launch.- We are not at launch yet. We are in -beta-. Much of what has been promised with the game is missing because we aren't at the point where everything promised should be in, and unfortunately, part of that is compatibility and optimization.

Shade, No I can say that using Windows XP, 7, and 8 on a daily basis that XP does not beat 7 nor 8 in effectiveness. Matter of fact. Windows 8 by far has the best performance of any OS I have used. It is just that Metro makes the UI part of it suck.

XP stuck around because Vista sucked until service packs brought it back.

I "think" they expect us to post entire threads dedicated to bug reports, but I feel as if a search could find a compilation thread.

Armor Penetration definitely needed to be clarified, and I don't disagree with the general sentiment behind the changes being proposed nor even that there is a need for them.

But I don't really agree with the direction being taken with it. Removal of Armor Pen and Armor (in mobs case) entirely seems to be a bit overkill. Couldn't we simply make Armor Pen become a percent value? That way you can have a much wider array of monster types than you can without. Without you end up with low hp or high hp. With you could have, as an example, low hp but an extremely tough outer shell.

Just a thought, I have been enjoying my time with the game thus far and I'm sure I'll continue to do so into the future. :)

A decent thought; with any luck this will be a temporary change while they iron out the old method.

You were not promised a working beta for a badly outdated OS. You were promised a working game at launch and that is likely what you will get.

Ah Win 98.. The memories. I had this Compaq without any onboard 3D so I had to play Half Life and it's mods on software mode. Fun times!

Combat I can agree with... makes sense... but I hate the 1-100 to 1-10 change... the issue isn't the planet levels but the mobs, changing a big part of the whole point of the game, was too level up aka weapons armor/tiers... go to different planets etc, you didn't need to change planet levels as that was never the issue, just the mobs needed some tweaking, I feel all the people who complain about certain things, will be heard... this is how games get ruined in the beta stages, I wish they would poll, these big changes and let us decide

After reading that post, I honestly think I'd prefer the armour penetration system and the 100 levels. I'll be sad to see it go.

However, at the moment I really don't care about balance issues because the constant screen resizing and crashing upon flying to another planet or just beaming to/from the ship are making the game nigh unplayable! :<

Devs, PLEASE! Forget about the balance issues until the game is stable and these crashes are fixed. What good is balance if the game can't even be experienced long enough to NOTICE balance?

I don't think there should even be an XP version, devs shouldn't have to support a 12 year old operating system, that's lunacy, it's like expecting a PS2 to run PS4 games. But, they decided to support it in the first place, so guess Chucklefish put themselves in that situation.

In regards to the patch, yeah I think this is definitely required. So far I've just been going for the guns that look like they have fastest firing/damage/armour penetration at a guesstimate, and it's infuriating not knowing straight off the DPS they can do. Also in terms of weapons, the Human Mech is horribly underpowered, especially considering you find it in Gamma sector and it can't handle the mobs there.

Perhaps have its DPS and health/armour based off the players current weapon and armour, that way it scales with the player, considering it's tech.

On another note.. Don't take my instruments man D: I found a microphone and I have no idea where I got it from, some gamma moon.

Yeah, I'm with most people here. I've grown to like the armor penetration system. Simplifying it would be, in my opinion, unwise when you could just add a 'DPS' marker to current weapon stats.
I strongly dislike the simplification of planet difficulty. The fun was there because everything on the planet was unknown to you: how strong are these creatures, the planet seems difficult, etc. It encouraged players to constantly explore and change planet. Simplifying it will make Starbound like Terraria, only with a few different worlds. The fun is in discovery, in revealing the unknown, and if you die - penalty for death is reasonable - then you can just get back up and keep exploring! Please don't make Starbound like every other game, it's glorious. I admit some changes are needed, but not these ones.

That chart means almost nothing. And likely wrong considering it was announced that Windows 8 was pulling ahead of XP numbers months ago.

Here is the thing. If Windows XP never had to leech development time and just worked that would be one thing. However it is not working and that is due to how old it is. Modern APIs and drivers have long moved on.

What is silly is "some" XP users blaming the developers for not giving their OS special attention. It shows the need to drop XP support as soon as Microsoft does.
