Okay, I like it, but still, what 'bout optimization? I needed to stop playing until it gets better (dying like every few minutes due to lag spikes is kinda annoying).

 

They'll worry about that more in full release.

 

Personally I've yet to see a real need to build any elaborate bases, just take your crafting areas on the ship and you're pretty well covered; not that building isn't encouraged, but it serves little purpose for beta testing.

 

Considering every piece of equipment is probably going to be incompatible, how would you suggest that they would compensate for that?
It's all randomly generated, so you cant just change each weapons values that simply.
They did say at the start of all this that this was going to happen.
and it will keep happening, we were warned, to be fair.
I adore what ive done with my character so far, but i respect the developers choice and if they see fit to having things reset.

 

Plus the bosses might actually be fightable without trapping them or other such shenanigans. With everything changing equipment wise it'll feel like a whole new game!

 

It isn't even that I have a problem with them simplifying the combat system. What I have an enormous problem with is making all of the planets in a given system roughly the same difficulty. As myself and others have already stated, we like the variety in difficulty and the choice and progression that comes along with searching out increasingly difficult planets. What is the point of exploring this "massive" universe if all of the planets are pretty much the same in difficulty? If it goes this route I am certain many of us will feel it is being catered exclusively to casuals and not even giving us more hardcore gamers the option to tackle more difficult content.

They did not force XP users to continue to use a badly outdated OS. Nor were you ever promised development priority. And for that you call them a "Shit company?"

Get real. There are far more important needs of the development time for the moment. Time spent fixing code to work on an outdated OS that does not use modern APIs is time not spent working on improving the game.

XP support should have NEVER been stated in my opinion. And should be removed soon after launch.

 

You make it sound like we all got in for free.

Honestly, the overly defensive apologists are just as insufferable as those demanding a refund because the game crashed once.

 

Then you just harvested some wood and went to another planet in the same sector. >_>

 

Even the lowest end PCs still being sold come with a version of Windows 7. It is not about low end. It is about Windows XP leeching development time because it was not an OS designed to still be used in 2013.

I agree to the system staying as it is, maybe it would be possible for them to save the old system and hand it out as a mod for players who genuinely enjoy it as it is?

Correct. WE were warned. Not the Steam curious customers. Which might be his point here. Nothing really says "WARNING : Losing your character might be part of beta testing purposes" in the game's description.
The steam page needs more warning.

Yeah, there needs to be a way to combine cold weather gear with higher tiers of armor otherwise late-game frozen planets will be im-freaking possible. I just explored my first moon with cold weather gear and thought to myself that it would be the only way to survive on that kind of planet without literally dropping campfires everywhere.

 

Sadly quite a few still do. Despite repeated warnings from Microsoft that XP lacks the security and compatibility of latter OS offerings. Worse for them is that they lose all security updates early next year.

Worse for us because frankly Chucklefish made a massive error in saying XP would be supported in the first place. That means eventually time has to be leeched to fix the game for XP users. Tho there is nothing stopping them from announcing end of support after Version 1.

 

generally this kinda stuff happens in betas though,
so to be fair it should be common knowlage,
but yes you have a point, it wouldnt hurt to atleast mention it on the page.

isnt the reason people use xp in the anymore because it runs alot more effectively that any other windows OS?

 

Guys help me please, I want to report few buggs and leave my comments|suggestions|feedback, but I cannot seems to find proper branch on forums, can someone please dirrect me to that part where I can create thread (or just comment them on already existing one)? thank you in forward.

 

I hope they can fix the windows XP issue because I haven't PLAYED THE GAME YET IM SO TICKED OFF!!!!
