I don't know if this has already been addressed, but as it stands fighting monsters is absurdly annoying. Its not fun. Fights go like this: you either 1-2 shot the monster you fight and loot it and carry on, or you hit the monster a couple of times and then you die. The fights are break neck speeds which make weapons like low damage/high attack speed, useless. I feel the armor is under powered on PC's, and the health on monsters is underpowered as well. When i fight a monster on the map, I dont want to fight it for 3 minutes before I can progress, but I also dont want to run across maps either dominating all creatures with one swing until one of them pops me and instantly kills me, or having to avoid them at all costs.
Another thing that pisses me off is ALL THE MONSTERS JUMP ALL OVER. It makes for a bland experience that all the monsters do is jump all over the damn place at super speeds. Variation in monster AI would be greatly appreciated. Some monsters should be highly aggressive, some less aggressive, some jump a lot (body slam skill for instance) and some dont jump at all, etc. And varying jump height of monsters is also a good idea considering as it stands every monster is a pro at jumping 15 feet in the air.

Dear God, why do people not read previous comments on the forums or the update for the beta that the Dev team put out. Character/world/Game wipes will happen often in early beta. Tiy warned people to not get attached to their characters. We are helping in the development of the game. The whole point of a beta in the first place. You WILL LOSE YOUR CHARACTER FREQUENTLY. Welcome to the world of betas.

Directional attack is easy to say, hard to implement :> It'd involve whole new sets of sprite animations for all possible weapon types, for all current and future races as well..:O Lot of work right there.. Maybe some ores that you can "trim" armors with for additional effects? Firestone for fire resist kind of thing, Light-rock for a jump height bonus, Slimestone for poison resist, Aether Ore for energy bonus or energy regen bonus, things like that :p It'd get more ore into the game as well :) Was thinking we need a full set of gemstones with uses and effects also :O

That's the sum of my experience right now, but lately it's been searching for ore instead of vendors. After purchasing my first set of guns only to find them useless, and raiding a few dungeons only to get loot that was worse than the crafted stuff of the same tier, I've basically devoted my time to mining as much of the next material as possible to try to upgrade. Late on, if we're still getting systems for alien tracking and the like, I imagine we'll have more reason to search different worlds to find different creatures, but at the moment, as you said with the current combat system, they're just a nuisance.

A talent tree for equipment? That sounds like fun, but there is one problem. Aside from saving all this additional data per item, game play mechanics are added slowly over the tiers. The game is designed with that in mind. Such a high tech system would have to come later, at maybe tier 5. This problem also occurs with the reinforcement idea. Perhaps, if we get lucky, they could use both. Reinforcing by adding more of a metal to armor is easier than a research station, so maybe tier 2-6 reinforce, then tier 7-X research.

Are you guys for real? The BETA has been out for 3 days and you entitled people are demanding developers get your patch out right away and some are saying you want refunds if it isn't given in a timely manner? Open your eyes and give them time. The game isn't even out yet and you are acting like they owe you some sort of due. Did you read the post about what this beta will be like? They Owe you NOTHING. Tiy said he is working on the XP fix, it will get fixed. Start acting like adults, post bugs like you are supposed to and stop demanding stuff from people who are working to make the best game of all time. This game isn't out yet. Geez...

I honestly think every patch should wipe characters so all the people complaining about it will stop playing this stage of the beta. Chucklefish gave fair warning how this stage would be handled and that there will be wipes.

You accepted that your characters can be wiped at any time during this stage and chose to play anyway. Stop complaining.

It's this aspect that also slightly worries me about their comments about 'hand crafting' some of the items for the given tier. If they do too much of this fine-tuning through static stats, it may also remove some of the benefits of exploring for new weapons. Also have to wonder if they intend on lootable armors?

In the end, if the craftable weapons are able to 100% get you through the game without problem, then why search for the fancy weapons they worked so hard on a generator for? That's just my take on it. I looked through some of the assets, and how they have the current generation methods is beautiful, I just wish it wasn't always sub-crafted quality, though I blame beta/testing phase for that :p

:I Guys, we can't do anything about the ridiculous commenters asking for refunds for the dumbest reasons, so don't waste your time. B: Do you know where the devs keep a close eye on for suggestions? I feel like I could give some valuable
input on how to make this new battle system have its full potential, but I keep getting lost in the sea of comments.

I would love to top such a thing with a research mechanic (If we're still getting one.) Plop an item into the research station, choose an effect you want, and it'll show you what material you need in order to craft that recipe and give you the recipe to make it once you have said materials.

Less a talent tree and more a discovery option for crafting. Think of it this way:
    - Place item in Research Station
    - Choose from list of bonuses for that specific item
    - Researching item takes certain amount of time/pixels
    - When it's done, you now have an augment dropdown when you select that item in the crafting window. You select your effect, and it changes the recipe. You then require other materials to make it. And you could gate that by tier material as well. Copper might have.. say, 200 pixel cost for research, and only 3 options: Improved armor, Improved Environmental protection, and improved jump height. Armor might require adding 50 cobblestone to the recipe, Environmental might require adding 5 leather, and increased jump height might require 10 moon dust. As you move further on, the recipes and effects could become increasingly more powerful, such as damage on hit effects, increased health, and the like, and require components that you might only find sitting hear lava underground, or on high levels moons within certain dungeons. The gating for progression there becomes the availability of materials and the time/pixel cost to do the research in the first place.

EDIT: @Gstayton: My thoughts exactly. Right now I feel I have no reason to search, because everything's useless compared to my crafted gear. In order to survive on the world that might drop cool stuff, I need to have equipment that already renders the planet useless. I also just attribute this to beta. :)

I feel a character wipe would effect beta testing, as a lot of people would stop playing until characters stop being wipes, I being one of them. Consistent character wipes would also mean that later parts of the game wouldn't get tested enough, as most people don't have enough time to play through that quickly. As far as I've got most of the game consist of mining which gets very tedious after a while and without the rewards I'm not prepared to play the first 10 hours of the game over and over until launch. I would be happy to wait longer if a character wipe is avoidable.

And you're welcome to. This section of the beta is more suited to those who are willing to restart over and over and over to retest new systems as they're developed. As new systems are rolled out, their effect on the overall flow of the game must be tested, which means starting from scratch fairly often. Right now we will probably see one every few days/weeks, but later on we'll probably see one or two every few months until release. You might want to wait until then to play. As for affecting the progress of the beta testing itself, losing a chunk of players who weren't interested in retesting those systems again anyway isn't something that's going to be a detriment to the testing itself, whereas having to find a way to support old saves while adding new systems will put a drain on resources and slow the progress and stability of the game overall. No offense met - but some people, like yourself as you've said, just don't have the time required to commit to retesting the game at this point in development. There's nothing wrong with waiting a month or two for things to settle down. :)

The only unfortunate loss we might feel is in the volume of systems, which means less testing on less diverse hardware. Unfortunately you're going to have that in either direction. I'd rather they wipe my character to push a new system than to let me keep it and have it crashing left and right, anyway. :)
