If you are on Win XP then no. If your on Win 7 or another OS, than waiting usually works.

Oh cool, that is my main gripe with the game, the fact that your armor and weapons become near-useless at the upper level planets of each tier... (I hope that made sense, I'm very sleepy :p) Also, I don't mind resetting :).

Words can not describe how "special" your whole whiny rant is.

Anyways, liking what the next patch is bringing devs, can't wait.

    Thanks, I try. :)

As I've said, AP is an interesting mechanic in itself, but you do lose that feeling of advancing your character if you keep it in its existing form (Even modified to make it have a more gradual effect based on level). I'd like to see some form of advancement that indicated that the game was evolving a bit as your character grows in power. Right now, it doesn't feel like it. I do agree that it'd be cool to have it as a bonus effect - and I think that, once the game is a bit more fleshed out, monster stats could include armor again as well as HP, with certain monsters having higher armor, but perhaps doing lower damage. Damage and defense types would be good for this, as well, but the question there is simplicity and enjoyability vs complexity and diversity. Too many numbers can be overloading to a player, while not enough can be underwhelming (As it is to me now, and I imagine quite a sum of you).

Another suggestion, in addition to yours, that's been tossed around, is more diversification in armor itself. Crafted items can be of varying random degrees of quality - you might make a copper breastplate with +1 armor, or perhaps a silver helmet that gives +3 exposure protection. Some graves with energy, a buckler that gives increased health, etc. The goal is to add some diversity to armor, and give a bit of randomness to what you craft. Ultimately you could fuse that with your idea, and each time you craft a piece, it unlocks that specific bonus which you can then use to augment pieces of that tier when you make a new piece. If/Once we get a research system, however, I imagine that would all be much more smoothed out.

If you REALLY want to get crazy, you could add ore grades. Each ore would have the grade level of the planet it's one (Same as threat level), then when used to make armor, higher grade ores might produce higher quality items (IE, producing say, an AP 9 shortsword from grade 9 ore). However concerns about storage, complexity, interface, etc. would make this change much more difficult to even consider.

The planet level will not be removed, the planet will have their level... but 1 to 10... and not 1 to 100 like they wanted.
It is the monsters level which will be remove... change by "easy, normal and hard" relatively of the planet...
a hard monster of a level 1 planet will be at the same power as a level 2 easy one.

The part that worried some of us is in addition to this, they're changing how monsters work (The Easy/Medium/Hard thing), and potentially removing some of the desire to explore within a sector to find harder monsters/better equipment. In addition, the progression from 1-100, for most people, feels much more satisfying than a progression from 1-10. Are all worlds in the Alpha sector going to be threat level 1? Will they have the same difficulty across the board? Or is there going to be a new indicator for difficulty? If so, why remove monster levels at all?

I can't agree with a system that makes crafting RNG. The genre of game should allow for a progression in gear, even at a price. The multiple grades of ore might be interesting, but they would need to have glows or sparkles to show they are different from normal ores. Before I read this last paragraph, I was thinking something like a reinforcement system, where a player would use X number of related or maybe unrelated (special effects like temperature / poison / shock / etc protection) of an item to boost the base stats maybe once or some limited number of times, making it more expensive each time. I think reinforcement would provide a straighter understanding of the mechanics and take up less inventory space.

ok some things that REALLY need to be fixed...

1 Sand Physics... they completely ruin desert planets... make some kinda alt sand to spawn there so the whole world doesnt fall in on itself.

2 Directional attacks is a must... tired of my attacks being locked to only 2 directions...

I think a complete sandbox mode with everything available should be an option until character wipes are resolved.

so im gunna have to make a new character.....i hope i dont need to reset my character a bunch of times.

Oh and something i was wondering about is the stores will i be able to sell stuff that i dont want? and will there be a trade system ? so players can trade for items or pixels ?

Honestly, my preferred system would be to slap that chestpiece into a research station, and spend some time/pixels to research different potential upgrades to it. I honestly don't like the RNG system but I felt it was fair to state it has been suggested. I think that the ore grade system has potential but also has a lot of potential to be messy. Reinforcement MIGHT get messy too, but with certain interface implementation it would probably work.

Again, I'd rather just slap that thing into a research station and spend time and pixels on researching how to make it get one more armor, or learning how to craft it with spikes. That'd be much more fun for me.

EDIT: To the two above me: You're going to have to restart your character a number of times, most likely, and it's not a bug or issue that's going to be "Resolved". This is early beta. Don't get attached to your characters, just play and test the game, and enjoy it for what it is. You're going to have to restart a few times. As for a sandbox mode - that would circumvent a lot of the things the devs are hoping we're going to test right about now. While our creations might be interesting or entertaining, The systems are the things that need to be put under stress right now, and building seems to be a system that is very stable.

It is true than 1-10 have less potential of exploration.
When I was playing, I was changing of planet almost each time I was getting new gear to match my power and the item I could find...
with only 10 levels, it remove a lot of that, it is true...

Still, I like the different difficulty depending of how deep you go.

They work on that and we can only see what they are gonna do with that.

yes you have a point. what about sectors? i thought that every different sector had a wide level range (sector A maybe lv 1 to lv 30 worlds, sector B maybe lv 20-40 and so on). If lv range will be smoothed from 1-100 to 1-10 what will be the point in changing sector? does it means that sector A won't have high level planets?

Sounds good, actually. I'm not bothered by the change from 1-100 to 1-10 in terms of progression, and the monsters having a difficulty label rather than a level makes sense. So far the updates seem to be doing a lot to improve the game.

I haven't gone out of my way to a planet to find monsters. Always looking for a village or dungeon. The monsters just get in the way at this point due to the imbalance, lack of varied drops from them. If the monster's drop list varied based on planet, then I'd be interested in hunting for monsters.

Guns are directional, but being able to do that with a spear would be great giving them a use. the other melee weapons are "fine" for now.

    Its upgrede lost?
    Coming tonight..
    - Major work has gone into making the game work correctly onto windows XP (done, needs testing)
    - Fixed (nerfed sorry), Snow infantry armor (done)
    - Make matter blocks discover-able in a new dungeon (done)
    - Experimenting with a new leveling/damage/armor curve (Thank you to Chewymouse) (done, needs testing)
    - Complete ore rebalance (working on it)
Lots more to come, these balance issues are taking some time. I’ll add to the list as more is added.

I can say that I don't want to lose the 100 levels. That is not the issue, no offense, but the real issue is the person who did the battle algorithm didn't do a great job of it. I have tried to build rpgs and spent the majority of my time on battle damage and leveling. You tried a unique way of handling battle and I commend your team because without new ideas we suffer with lame games. Don't give up on your idea, but make it work. Rather than character levels you probably used the armor punctuation as a substitute. Great now make that work with your damage. You tried to keep damage around the same and that doesn't work because of the weapon level makes it different. Also your monsters never had different hp except bosses. I get that because of the procedural generation you can't plan monster hp, but you can give it a range for the level and give it defense for its level.

This is a gear based game for the player and level based for monsters. It can work but since the player has no stats to manipulate the weapons damage output you either need more weapons with different vales or the current weapons with a bonus range. My first weapon upgrade made the game extremely easy but first armor upgrade did nothing. The player has stats it's in the gear. Sorry for rambling and I know how hard it is but I hate to see you give up on a new and unique idea. It can work just needs the right balance. This is easier for you because you only have attack and defense and upping hp can solve a low defense issue. Thanks for a great game. Don't nerf it please just balance it.
