Isn't the minimum required Mac OSx 10.8? Shows it that way on the steam page

Sounds great! Sad about the reset, but happy about the change. The levels always confused me, because you never knew your own level.

    Keep up the good work!!

I think this is a fantastic idea and I'm willing to stand behind it! I have a thought concerning weapons. I feel that there should be more weapons to craft starting out. Some places are hard to get by without the right gear and after spending a lot of time playing I'm still using tier 1 stuff. Will it be possible to craft guns or better armor? I'm a bit confused as to where I'm suppose to find that stuff.

Sounds like a pain in the ass to do.
The balance is a hard thing to do... but it is very important.
The present system works... but is confusing and a bit boring...
no real surprise for monster power once you kill some of them.

With different power level depending of how deep you are, you
have the choice to keep near the surface for some basic and low
number of ore (but without having to fear big monster) or risk to
go more underground with more ores but more powerful monsters.
Some for the choice of planet
    I really like the idea.

Also, even if the planet level will be limited to 10, nothing stop them
to add some more in the future if they want to.

I waiting for the update with impatience.

I have no problem with the character reset as far as we all already knew that it would happen A LOT during the beta. Anyway these changes sound cool. Also i was wondering if it wouldn't be more understandable for players to have a "damage absorption" score instead of a "defense" value as far as having 10, 20, 100, etc defense doesn't give me a hint about how much damages ll be deducted from monster attacks.

I'm not sure I really like the idea of wiping away "monster levels". Will the current system of planet "Threat Levels" still exist, or is everything just going to be marginalized into some silly "easy, medium or hard" planet?

Love how dedicated you guys are to improving the game based on our reactions to the beta, no more than a few days after the fact!
I don't know if that's just standard procedure in game design today, but I still like it.

I'm afraid I can't trawl through 17 pages of replies to find if it's been proposed already, but - why lose the 100 levels of planetary difficulty? I think it just degrades the fidelity of the difficulty level, and means that a character can too easily find him/herself tremendously out of depth when they least expect it.

I'd propose a different approach. Well, it's the same approach, but it keeps the 100 levels of difficulty.

Easy, Medium, and Hard monsters are good enough. But why not have, for instance, a level 1 planet be a Tier 1 planet with all Easy monsters, and very rare Medium monsters deep down to keep you on guard? A level 2 would have a little more Mediums, a level 5 would be mostly Mediums with a mix of Easy and Hard monsters in places (a "balanced" world), an 8 would be all Mediums and Hards, and a 10 would have all Tier 1 Hards, with an occasional Tier 2 Easy thrown in, for some out-of-depth challenge and a chance of good loot.

This keeps 100 planetary levels, integrates well with the new system, and allows the player to fine-tune the amount of challenge he/she is jumping into when he/she picks a world to land on.

1: If you haven't left the Alpha sector, you won't find new ores. (But I believe I did see something about gold ores and low spawn etc..)
2: Current quest line ends after UFO boss (More content later, but beta..). So afterwards is basically just sand-boxing, exploring, finding the other bosses to unlock more sectors, finding new features etc..
3: Dyes. Not to sure. I know Yellow dye is craftable from the start. But I believe the way to make other dyes is found elsewhere in other sectors more than likely.
4: HomeBase is what setting a home planet is for so you can know where it is/go back to it.
5: Weather stations is again not an alpha/beta sector thing. It's way late game. (If it is actually in atm)
6: Recuiting NPCs, again late game. You would need to leave the alpha sector.
7: The whole reason for this update is because the other sectors seem to hard for some/most people. So other sectors being too hard may not be as much of an issue.

I was intending on doing a bit of a written out response to the proposed changes, but after reading through all 17 pages, I don't know if I can top yours. The idea of all Alpha Sector planets being 'the same' in terms of content level is going to make reasons for exploring kinda non-existent, save for the sake of exploration (which is good and all, but still...) Indeed, squishing the levels down so they don't have such huge gaps between them would be a massive help, and wouldn't remove the variance.

I'm reserved on the idea of AP. It is a bit wrong feeling in its current state, yes, though it would be nice to see it make a return in a sort of bonus side effect.

Also, an idea to improve the leveling of gear to fill in the smaller gaps would be not to make new gear sets, but perhaps small augmentations to the gear, so that a tier set of gear can take you further with just a bit more resources dumped into it. This prevents making new gear at ever 5 levels, but still allowing a sense of progression/exploration.

Aww... I had just figured out the damage thing. Oh well, the update sounds great, but I have a question.

With the character reset, do we also need to make a new world to run the dedicated server on to implement the new ore generation?

Unknown. But this update doesn't slow down the progress of the XP fix. As Bartwe is working on the xp fix. This update is likely from Tiy/Kyren.

The weight of the penalty doesn't need to be 1 either, could be 1/2, or 3/4, etc... all in the balance
BTW, i'm in favor of keeping 100 levels or so, makes it feel like a much larger universe out there

also, I am ok with mobs having more than 100 hp. (in fact, the variation would be nice)

The removal of Armour Piercing sounds like a good idea to me, but I really don't like the sound of basically removing planet threat levels. I feel like it's going to lose a lot in the sense of progression and I'd have much less reason to go to other planets, since they're all going to have monsters with the same strenght anyway.
I don't really understand how you're going to get stronger weapons with the leveling with depth system. All the NPCs, who are the main source of weapons, are on the surface. Meaning they're all going to be 'Easy' , so you can't even get high level weapons.

Hey Tiy, would it be possible to lower the knockback a bit as well? Currently using very fast weapons like daggers are almost pointless since the enemies will get knocked back a pretty big distance anyways so you can really only hit them with one swing anyways.
