Watching Leth's stream last night and I noticed combat was incredibly linear in terms of the direction you attack It seems as though you can only attack the direction you're facing with no variation in angle of depression/elevation This results in the player having to jump and time melee attacks in order to hit a flying enemy. Was this aimed to make the melee combat more skill-based or was it just something that wasn't considered? Or is it dependent on which weapon type you're using? My suggestion is to be able to make the aiming of weapons free, similar to other games in this genre, so you could aim up and attack a flying enemy. (LOLTERRARRIARHURRR)
Hmm... Yeah, I can see that in a later update. Another note is if it's free then online play will have that much more to remember for each character.
The position of the arm when pointing the weapon or firearm. It's the little things that add to lag load sometimes. Single player would run fine though I think.
Weapon types decide that. Spears are just left to right. Swords & hammers are up to the bottom left/right. That's all I know on this matter.
Some are (like guns), it depends on the weapon. What I have seen so far it's much like terraria where some weapons have a defined area in the direction your character. Others are aimed like guns, spears, etc. Its certainly possible that some swords could have an aimed arc, I haven't seen any yet however. It wouldn't add to lag, it's already in the game. The same functionality used for aimed projectiles can be used to implement aimed swords if they decided it was desirable to do so.
