Combat Part 1: Shields

On topic: At least we now have an understanding of how the top bar works!

 

I love how everything about this game is amazing. Only thing that is kinda disappointing is that it seems shields will always be on the hand facing the screen. And that's not even a big thing. Everything else is bamazing.

 

Yeah!! 'Cause amazing isn't a cool enough word, it's BAMazing!

 

Really, I don't see how skyrim combat was deep, I just clicked till the enemy died.

The combat system is looking good though.

 

Very interesting! As you may tell from my Skullomania avatar, I'm a fighting-game fan, and this combat system sounds great. I reminds me of Street Fighter IV's focus attack mechanic. Here's an example: If Ryu throws a fireball at you, you can go into your focus attack animation, absorb the hit and follow through for a counter. If you succeed in hitting Ryu, your hypothetical damage from the hadouken is healed. However, if you fail, your HP is subtracted a chunk.

I wonder if blocking can be finessed to Castlevania or SoulCalibur levels in which if you time your block upon exact hit, it becomes a parry.

 

Wow... I mean... wow... That's about all I've got. It's times like this I swear my head is literally exploding.

 

Skyrim's combat was simple if you wanted it to be. If I wanted to charge at everything with a daedric warhammer, I could do that. If I wanted to try and use other mechanics like stealth and conjuration, I could specialize and take that combat path which requires totally different clicking.
But on that note, I'd love to see the huge varied mechanics we'd get from the generation. We've already got support things, ranged things, tanky things...

 

I hope combat will be fast-paced .

 

This is really cool. Much better than minecraft, and terraria already in terms of combat, if it's already put into the game.

 

The two guys might just be holding it in different hands, so that you can actually SEE the shields that the post is about. You can probably wequip a shield in either hand.

...or both. I am going to play this game dual-wielding shields.
