Collecting lava?

Discussion in 'Starbound Discussion' started by UnrealAlly, Dec 18, 2013.

?

What way should we do this? If you want to at all.

  1. Buckets!

    20.3%
  2. Some kind of high tech device like a lava vacuum.

    61.0%
  3. Lava generator? Builds A pump that slowly adds lava to an area. Needs something to fuel.

    16.9%
  4. Don't add anything at all lava is good the way it is.

I think adding a way to obtain lava would be amazing I see all the dungeons with the little lava rooms that look like I don't know....power plants. And I would like to recreate this for my house. So I'd like something like a bucket from minecraft or something along those lines to collect and then place lava. I don't care how you implement something like this as long as its achievable and reasonable works. (By reasonable works I mean I don't need 400 buckets of lava to fill a tiny space) Just an idea. Please and thank you. Also anyone else who agrees with me I am going to make a poll about possible ideas. Please vote!

I like the idea, but it definitely needs to be something that can realistically handle lava. If we melt when we touch it, mere buckets cannot take the heat either.

They could always make something like Impervium Buckets and make lava-gathering something you can't do until lategame.

Impervium buckets I'd be fine with, but not regular iron buckets.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Pipes and pumps.

This is a Sci-Fi game - Not a medieval fantasy. Let us build pumps that operate on fuel connected to pipes (That CAN run in the background layer) to help us pump liquids as needed back and forth.

Machine that melts stone or cobblestone or something into lava? :D That sounds badass!
Edit: Either that or just hire Akainu for an hour or so ;)

Well actually glitch are medieval castles and such there is medieval elements to this game its more of preference of build so maybe have multiple ways?

I really want the generator with the fuel not the buckets really but still wanted to give the choice.

We need a portable null-void that can move all liquids.

I don't think that's realistic. But this is a ground for ideas so let it out.

We play games to escape the realistic and set out for insane adventure. :)

This isn't a Science Realistic game! This is a Science Fiction game :p meaning William Shatner! :D

Lava is collected in buckets in real life.

At very high tiers I can imagine high-tech buckets capable of carrying lava. It'd be like the coffee mugs in System Shock 2 - which had their own stasis field that kept the contents hot or cold, without damaging the container, and protected from being spilled.

Mostly though we DO need a system of both manual buckets, and wire-powered pumps to move liquids from A to B

Let me stop you there - The Glitch BUILD Medieval castles. They are highly advanced sentient robots. I will bet you that inside of every chair, bookcase and chandelier is a network of copper wiring and circuitry. The medieval theme is all for show.

We honestly need usable buckets in general. I've wanted to gather all shorts of strange liquids that I've stumbled across. Being able to collect poison would be a great. I personally don't care about the item being "realistic". An iron bucket would be good enough.

I've wanted this ever since they said I could be immortal on my ship.

Lava filled space ships are the future.

Hey, sorry if you already know and this was just about the aesthetics but you can collect lava already. You just have to use a pickaxe and it turns into a block.

The amount of pipe necessary for such a venture, though.
And you'd be unable to get it off planet for a lava jacuzzi on your ship.

I say we need pipes that can store it in large impervium liquid containers.
