Coal problems

I can't seem to find any coal on my world...
I've tried digging mineshafts straight down to look for caves, as well as go in through surface caves. I can also hardly finally any other ores...atop of that I'm pretty much out of torches. And with the recent patches, you can no longer use wood for fuel... any ideas on what I should i do? :s


Edit; also, I have a fairly large planet, and I've walked all around it, searched every cave. Now I'm digging randomly.. for the last 3+ hours. I have 65 fuel worth or something, and it isn't enough to travel to the next planet in my system... Pretty frustrating, I think I'de have better luck just restarting, but I don't really want to do that. :\

 

You have a "Bad Seed" of a planet. Coal was all over my starting planet. Trigger a sand collapse and ride it to the bottom. Its great fun and you get to collect all the ore.

 

Coal issues seem to be common. It's probably because "rarer" seeds are currently more common, so they take the spots that coal would normally take up. This should be fixed when they balance ore deposits in the future.

 

yeah I had an abundance of coal on my other world, pre patch.

I've done this with sand and gravel... many times. Still no ores, not even copper..
I have nearly 12k dirt blocks now.
I am against cheating, but ffs, is there a way I can spawn 100 coal ore... This is seriously mental.

 

I'm having bad luck since the beginning for coal.
They will fix soon the "Coal crisis", I hope!

 

Look for Cheat Engine - Starbound post in google. It showed you how to make infinite ammounts of an item.

 

Thanks Dark, but I don't think that will really help me, seeing as I have no coal to change the values of. I'm going to see if the "betterfuels" mod will still work... That one has wood as a fuel source still.

After hours of being stuck on literally 98 fuel(I think I needed 100...) I FINALLY got off my first planet. Good.fking.riddance.
