That was one of the most useful comments yet in terms of telling someone how to get into it immediately.

But I'd like to avoid doing that everytime I wanted to restart the game - without also facing those hours of grinding. There has got to be more than 2 solutions that the community can come up with and have implemented into the game.

If you click on the book there is a page with hotkeys in it.

For the Apex it's called "Control Yourself"
I'm not sure if it's the same name for every race, but it is there.

    ^restating my opinion YEAH.

You can do whatever you want in this game, be it explore, fight, build, archeology.mining, making colonies..etc.

This game is a sandbox, and I disagree with everything you've said.

The reasons why have already been stated by other posters.

Me or him? And if I've contradicted myself, explain your reasoning.

Bullshit. None of these points are valid because we're not in those stages of development yet.

What I see here is a request that the game allow you to do literally everything the moment you load it. But oh, wait, that would be too easy, so we don't want that. What does OP want? I don't know, they never say. They just repeatedly make contradictory statements about what they don't want.

"I don't want the game to be so hard, but I don't want it to be easy" is completely unhelpful, but that's 90% of the suggestions I see here.

I completely agree. After a couple of days, I ahave impervium armor. How did I get it? Not by exploring, or monster slaying, or dungeon trecking, or questing...but by mining...

I mined for my first pickaxe. Then mined for my weapons and armor. Oh but then, I found a city full of avians, and a floran dungeon! But...there was nothing in EITHER of those that outmatched my MINED armor and weapons.

So I mined for the boss fight material. Beat him. Then I mined for fuel. Left to a new sector. Mined for a new pickaxe. Mined for the next tier of armor and weapons. Mined for the next boss. Then mined for the fuel to leave.

Did that exact same thing 2 more times for bosses 3 and 4. The exact same thing.

Oh but wait!! No more bosses! So did I mine for more armor, and use it to adventure to progress? Nah. I mined for a processor. Then mined for the next ship processor.5 more times. Until I mined for impervium.

Now I have impervium. No bosses to fight it in. No outmatched dungeon armor or hidden vendors. Just me. Maxed out. After mining.

This game isn't difficult. Its easy and tedious.

It takes several dozen hours of work to make an hour of actual content. "...content should be why a game is long..." is a phrase only used by those who have never tried to create anything.

NEEDLESS grind, such as "The boss has a 25% chance of dropping your progression item," is bullshit, and something that should be avoided at all costs.

That's not present here. The only true "grind" is finding rare materials, as you can get a solid 3k in pixels just circumnavigating a Tier 2 or Tier 3 planet and fighting enemies.

Haha, it's all good. And yeah, you do have to love it when people can't develop their arguments correctly and end up contradicting themselves.

Well then, maybe you should go to the suggestion forums and suggest that the developers make a "softie" mode, or something along those lines. It'd be better than complaining about the game in an obnoxiously long post that's just bound to start a flame war.

And how much testing did you do? How many bug reports did you file? Cause speedrunning this game was not what you technically paid for.

Tier 1 is the only tier with this problem, and even then pixels aren't really an issue at Tier 1. Get to tier 2 and march yourself towards getting a refinery. Refinery pretty much allows you to convert metal ores and bars into pixels (more 'precious' the ore/bar, the more pixels you'll get in return). From there, just grab any easily available ore you see. Literally, upon entering tier 4, I was able to immediately get a diamond drill. So, 12,400 pixels down the drain in a near instant, but easily obtained by smelting the surplus of silver/gold bars I had.

Besides, let's be honest, most non-linear RPG-esque games have some kind of grind to them.

well it is a ...mining game. There next game may be Skyrim in space, but this one isnt.

    Exactly my thoughts.

They wanted mining to be part of it. Sadly its the biggest part in this phase of the beta. It will all be balanced out soon enough.

Don't bs me and say bug reports are all a beta is for. Beta is about content AND bug fixing. If it was all about bugs, why is he adding a portable pixel printer instead of fixing bugs?

Its about players fixing the game before it comes out. Whether that's fixing bugs, balancing the game, or making the game better for players.

I Just tested the ENTIRE game progression. You test the bugs.

No you just took the path of least resistence and experienced the BARE minimum required to get from point A to point B. That's not exploring content

Pretty much this, it feels like the main quest is mandatory to get anywhere in the game. You need to follow it it to get to new areas, craft better tools and armor, etc.
*In my opinion*, you should be able to completely ignore the main story and still be able to do most everything anyway. You'd just have to find other ways to get those critical tier level-up items.
As it is now, the game feels linear. If i want the good stuff, i have to go summon that penguin boss, there's just no way around it.

I'm currently about to leave Gamma sector and I've never done more than an hour of concentrated mining in this game. I find all the materials I need hopping from world to world and gathering up what I can from their surfaces. It's more fun for me that way since you can find more tech and villages that way and it's also less tedious.

Ah! That's how you make an argument, kiddos. I can actually agree with this point. But definitely not the one in the OP.

Here's the thing... You don't understand what a sandbox game is and you don't want a sandbox game. You want to play with Legos, so my advice to you; go buy some damned Legos.

I hate to burst your bubble, but regardless if you want to admit to the following truth or not, doesn't change the fact that it's true: Mining for ores on a planet is exploring said planet. So this long redundant post of yours is completely invalidated. You maxed out your character by exploring, so what are you complaining about?

No, you didn't. You tested 4 Tiers of progression and 6 tiers of placeholder content that is in no way finished, balanced, or properly paced; so spare us your condescension.
