These mods work fine in single player.
When on the server if the modded item is placed into the world be it on your ship or a planet it immediately vanishes.
I have two mods doing this one of them is
    http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/dyeing-bucket-multiplayer-friendly.970/
    and the other is
    http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/placeable-atmosphere-generator.646/
at the same time I have mods that work fine like shiplocker crafting and are placeable.
I can see no obvious difference between them that could be causing this.
    Mods I am currently running.

    Any ideas?

Is the Shiplocker mod - just increase size of the shiplocker?

Any mods that only edit vanillia files will work
You can only use mods with new assets if the server has those mods also.

The server has the mods also, but again I think it does not.

The shiplocker mod allows crafting of the shiplocker so it is only editing crafting, the original assets already exist.

Temporarily removed everything but the dying mod and checked the logs.

Server is throwing "ObjectException: No such object named 'dyeingmachine'"

By the look of it now I believe it is merging the configs but not adding any of the custom textures.

Chalk this one up to stupidity, sever is on a dedicated linux host.
Linux treats File.txt, file.txt and FILE.txt as separate files.

Yup it was as simple as a case typo... occam's razor.
