If you are cloned, do you have to go and loot your own dead body? I don't really want to make a paradox, so i don't like this idea.

  4. That wouldn't be a paradox, because a clone is a different—wait, have you even read any of the posts in this thread?

Ahahaha: "Must kill self to get stuff back from dying which created guy I have to defeat to get stuff back from dying". Reminds me of like looking in a mirror to see yourself looking in a mirror, etc, etc. TELESCOPING. Or whatever it is...

Consciousness is the activity of neurons: feeling, moving, learning, thinking, etc. In this case I will focus on memory.

As you use certain pathways more you can use that pathway better. For instance, practicing with certain muscles for a skill such as a musical instrument makes it so you can play better because you can use the pathway more accurately with less conscious thought about doing it.
his is because as your body sends the signal to move the muscle/remember something the neurons which are sending the signals along become more intertwined and start releasing more neurotransmitter material, basically becoming better and faster at sending/receiving messages from that action.
Getting to the point, memory is not stored all in one place (for most things).
Some guy tried to find the source of complex memories for years only to find out that he was looking in the wrong place, because a memory can be traced to many places, sometimes in a certain pattern that trigger a memory. Like how people feel phantom limbs, because their brain pathways remember how to move the limb but the memory in the muscle isn't there cause well... it's gone. It also may be why there are things about organ transplants making the recipient have some of the impulses/habits of the original owner.

A more memory based example is learning: being in the same environment and mood as when you learned something will effect how well you can remember what you learned, not to mention how many times you actually studied to remember the topic.

So, if you were cloned, there would be a low chance of you actually retaining your memories unless in real time your neural changes, etc were being recorded and sent back to the station. Meaning something expensive was implanted in your brain, so it would cost alot to die.

This last thing here is mere speculation. Which is the fun part of thinking. :rainbow:
If one assumed that consciousness had some sort of frequency (neurons are electrical after all) then you could just have a machine that listened to your consciousness and recorded all that stuff. So when you did die you'd probably remember everything? Or would have a fuzzy memory?

My thoughts on this topic. I know it's long, sorry, I had to post because I took a class on it.

tl;dr = brain and body remembers the stuff you've done, so cloning station would have to update your "clone" in real time up to the point of death for them to remember anything. Most likely.

Well, if you had clones, there is a variety of things they would be helpful in.
Say, you made three, no four, clones. You made one practice combat tactics, and he became a master at that. You made another study all the subjects of the rainbow, and he became extremely intelligent. You made another deal with situations of all kinds, and he learned to react to any scenario. The last one joined you on your journeys, and he became a great adventurer. Now, say you died, and you could choose one of those four clones to re-spawn as. This way, you could have a mastery over either combat, intelligence, reaction, or travelling.
And, if this happened, you wouldn't have lost much, just a (probably) monetary loss, which is normally easy to replace.

At least you'll have someone to play hide-and-seek with. :p
