The inventory change that was pushed in today's Unstable update has made the game unplayable to me. For those of you who did not understand - we no longer have a solid inventory, instead:
    • there are four independent inventory containers
    • each of these three containers acts like an item type filter - once its full, we no longer can pick up items of that type, regardless if there is enough free space in other containers
    • the last fourth container cannot auto-pickup anything at all
    • we are now faced with annoying micromanagement each time our inventory gets full, and now it will get "full" 3.5 times faster
I wonder how long it will take for CF to realize that they actually done something irrational and terrible, no matter how "balancey" it looked from their perspective.

If this change will end up in Stable, I will not update CLeF until the "improved" inventory gets removed. Maintaining this mod has turned into annoying race against a senile grandfather who shoots himself in the leg and you do your best to patch the wound up before he bleeds himself to death, repeatedly.

The only counter-action which I could perform is to permanently set max stack value to 99999 and remove non-stacking limit from ALL objects in the game, but it would skyrocket the mod's complexity and won't be enough to compensate such anti-sandbox inventory change.

If you made a mod that increased the stack size like that I certainly would consider installing it on my server. :)
Assuming anyone's computer can run Starbound after the performance "enhancements"...

The 99999 stack size is a part of "Sandbox" plugin, which currently comes as an option. CLeF sets 9999 limit by default.

Considering the performance, the latest game's iterations were slow as hell for me, so I had to overclock my machine to get it running at non-annoying speeds. I already know the culprit of these slowdowns - JSON dungeons and JSON data re-conversions in particular. It's both plague and cancer of Starbound. :(

Found an issue, when I install the sandbox module, it crashes when I try to enable the teleporter.
It doesn't happen when you use the SG stable mod (basic).

Judging from the log, you forgot to put both "Stable - Sandbox" and "Stable" together. They are not interchangable.

When I do that some of the sandbox features are ignored. I think the basic one overwrites them.

Edit: It seems both parts adds the file /items/defaultparameters.config.

Yes, the Sandbox is supposed to override that. I think I forgot to put the explicit requirement in the header. Will fix it in several minutes.

Edit: Fixed, please re-download the mod. :3

Having an issue on a new character, the teleporter never properly enables, so I can't reach the planet. Thought it might have been the felins ship, but I tested with a new human and the same thing happens. Any idea where I should start looking for a conflict?

Running Unstable, installed Common and PG-Nightly directories into giraffe_storage/mods. Also installed felins, hunger, morecaves, and custom character creator (to get felins to work) from recommended/compatible mods.

Edit: Cheat/upgraded to tier 2 ship. Got the teleport icon on my bar, but it acts like I'm on the planet surface and just teleports me "back" to the ship, even though I'm already there. Still can't interact with teleport platform.

Edit2: Looks like morecaves broke planet-gen. I'll go pester that thread instead.

Thank you for letting me know! :) I haven't checked that mod in a while, so it's probably time to remove it from the recommended. :)

Nightly currently throws this error in the log:
"Error: Could not apply patch from backend: Folder <../giraffe_storage/mods\CLeF - Common\.>. Caused by: (JsonPatchException) Could not apply patch to base. (JsonPatchException) Could not apply operation to base. (TraversalException) Could not find "dungeonCountRange" to remove."

You can fix it by doing one of these:
    1. Changing the terrestrial_worlds.config.patch to add the values instead of replacing them.
    2. Since the dungeonCountRange is no longer specific to each single biome, you can change it all to this instead:
    Code:
    [
      { "op" : "replace", "path" : "/planetSizes/small/layerDefaults/dungeonCountRange", "value" : [0, 7] },
      { "op" : "replace", "path" : "/planetSizes/medium/layerDefaults/dungeonCountRange", "value" : [0, 7] },
      { "op" : "replace", "path" : "/planetSizes/large/layerDefaults/dungeonCountRange", "value" : [0, 7] },
      { "op" : "replace", "path" : "/planetTypes/garden/layers/surface/dungeonCountRange", "value" : [0, 7] }
    ]

Thank you! :) Steam haven't finished downloading the latest Nightly yet (it will take some time on my connection), so I cannot check if it's working, but I'll push your patch to GitHub right now.

    Edit: Checked. It's working. :3

Could you bring back the outpost underground dungeons, that were reportedly wiped out in the latest unstable update?

  18. MrChow

    MrChow Pangalactic Porcupine

That was (and still is) a part of the plan for the next version. :3 Also, I'll bring back the sounds for Dragon Boss (they were removed in the unstable as well).

How about the inventory? Can you completely change it to the previous one or isn't that possible?
Would be nice, I'm still messing with the new inventory.

Sadly, it's not possible. It's one of the hardcoded things that modders have no access to. And by hardcoded I mean there's no way to change it via either .config or .lua editing. It is possible to change the look of the buttons, but not the way the inventory now filters the items.
