my money's on divergent evolution. APE did it via being soulless science fucks, Klax did it by getting waay too high, and 02 did it by being best girl. Also, It's implied that all the Parasites have some sort of klax/non-standard ape human in them, and I'd assume YBCs are there to help regulate that.
