Ever since my sister declared herself adverse to both lactose and gluten we've been buying things like soy and rice milk with our 2% milk. So far the family favorite is rice milk, though almond and soy aren't bad.
When we got coconut milk for the first time I tried to smell it before taking a sip, to see if it smelled like coconut. It did. I also somehow managed to inhale some and everything smelled like fancy shampoo for an hour. I don't know why I sniffed so hard, I guess I was trying to snort it or something, I still don't know what I was thinking.

 

I just hope that it's not because of a fad that's happening now.

Coconut milk goes well with Asian cuisine. Haven't really had the chance to try the others you mentioned.

If it was a vampire, it'd be fine, but as it's not, it's making my eyes metaphorically bleed

 

really, it would be better if it WERE just because of the fad going around. because if it isn't, it means Coeliac disease and lactose intolerance, which are both worse to have than a fad.

 

Yeah, I just wanted to mention that a lot of people are trying not to eat such things because of a fad, which is stupid imo.
At least the people that actually have this disease/intolerance have easier now.

 

Shes had issues all her life so there might be something to it. Though shes kinda the type to treat minor issues as huge ones.
Though she skipped the beef and veggies my dad and I made last night because the sauces we mixed in had wheat halfway down the list. I don't think its THAT bad, but she does suffer if she eats gluten or lactose. She loved pizza so that's a real shame. The doctor said she didn't have celiacs though so its something else. Theres not much for her to eat, those restrictions rule out most food.
