These are my ideas to improve the underground.
1.Ore below certain points or in select biomes such a flesh biome that only harbors titanium as an example.
    2. Mini bosses in each different biome that are guarding many items that players can only find far under the planets surface.
    3. Environmental hazards. Near the core eruptions. In select biomes perhaps falling blocks. Unexplainable floods, A Earthquake, Quicksand definitely.
    4. Random encounters of npc spelunking merchants that sell climbing ropes and torches to adapt more to the the enviroment.
    5. More in depth temples, maybe zelda inspired puzzles with switches and timers with loot at the end of the temple or dungeons.
    6. The ability to spawn bosses below the underground for creative arenas.
    7. Mushrooms. I mean really who doesn't love shrooming. : )
    8. Maybe some unique fruits, veggies, and pets only obtainable in the underground.
    9. Final release bosses that are select underground only.
    10. My final suggestion. Which is planet-based. Elite biomes once characters cross the final tier. Examples, included swamplands, water worlds, and many more.

Different types of planet cores would be nice, instead of molten / lava.

For instance, if there's ice, don't suddenly stop rendering the ice layer, keep going with it :V

If there's a tentacle planet? Have tentacles moving about down there. (Or a quicksand-like purple goo that you slowly sink into and can't get out of.)

Moon planets? Have solid metal cores (drops ingots of that type or blocks that can be smelted down into ingots.)

need to have a bit more realism for the not-so-real stuff :V

What secrets are you hiding from me you little, well-built structures? TELL ME YOUR SECREEETSSSS! WHERE ARE YOU HIDING THEM???
    WHERE IS BATMAN!

    Ohh... *ekhm*
    Wrong thread.

Well I do think the underground biomes could benefit from some more features like more SPECIFIC monsters (ooze biome - slimes, underground jungle - wood/plant monsters, ice biome - yetis etc, something like that) as well as more environmental challenges like ice blocks that you can slide on, mud blocks that do actually slow you down and just... I don't know, just something more!

  4. If I could understand what you were saying, you'd still be naive.

[IMG]I wanna say it's an Attack on Titan reference, and we're the titans. But I could be waayyy off.

I was hoping that we could climb on the houses and punch through the windows, eating the female inhabitants. Oh, Rampage, I miss you.

I just started yesterday and most of the crazy stuff I've found has actually been deep underground. I started out just digging under the small house I set up. Initially I found some small tunnels that lead near the surface but the deeper I went the more hazards I found. Initially it was just a bunch of monsters but deeper still I was frequently finding pools of poison and unstable sand. The rewards were good too as I started finding entire rooms filled with those little pixel-filled pod things. Plenty of rare ores as well. Just before I went to bed I broke into a huge network of caves filled with flowers and grasses and these weird melons whose seeds I brought back to my farm on the surface. I'm using up a ton of torches (and bandages, lol) exploring the place. I'm sure there is a large random factor but there definitely CAN be a LOT going on underground.

I would like to think they'd go the extra mile, implement a shrinking potion, and allow us to go inside the houses which are instanced. but i know that probably won't happen

Nah, because this would allow for some really bad mojo on public servers.

"Hey, I saw someone go in that house! He's getting the loot, and I don't have a shrink potion! ...but I have a bonehammer..."

lol there's plenty of worse things someone can do in a server than follow around someone for a long time hoping they come across a mini house just to smash it. I think it'd be a cool way to hide a base. but like I said, I realize it's probably not going to happen.

I hope they do an update where they add alot of new forms of caves and maybe some new gems, i'm sure they will add it soon enough..

I agree with the OP... temples have no mini bosses.. and most of the time nothing but pixels.. that makes your encounter realy realy disapointing .
I dont think its hard to make some kind of stronger monster spawn in the temples/labs/ ect.. and add a chest that gives somthing better then torches or pixels to make your fight rewarding.

And they realy need to do somthing about the cores of the planets so its not only lava you get there but a large rondom of places (like the hell in terraria) so there is actualy a extra chalange and point digging down.

I wouldn't really say the underground is that empty, you can find micro biomes there, random micro dungeons, sometimes plants, sometimes little hazards.

7Vec is seriously starting to seem like a broken record to me.

If you've got actual, constructive feedback (which you seem to) then be polite when you post it.

Also, learn what a fact is.

While I do agree that the underground is quite empty compared to the surface of planets, I feel that it's mostly for testing purposes. I'd prefer they put a bunch of stuff on the surface, rather than a bunch underground and neglect the surface, or trying to split their time up and have a half-finished surface and underground.

While digging around everywhere in the hopes of finding something in the darkness can be fun to some people (myself included), it's much easier for testers to explore the surface of planets. So I feel like they just put almost everything they had (dungeons, facilities, mini-bosses, towns, etc.) on the surface so people could come across them more frequently and give proper feedback on these features before they added more/new ones underground.

For example, I've got about 100 hours into the game as of right now, and I only once, and only recently found crystals underground. Now imagine if they threw in a special dungeon that was only available underground. It would take a lot of time for people to be able to come across it and find it, therefore getting less testing than they would like.

I wouldn't say the underground is empty, although, admittedly, I've only explored the underground on three planets so far, and it felt so underwhelming I lost motivation to explore there on others.

Rather than content, which no one is going to see if they don't go looking for it, I would say what the the underground needs most is more interesting access points.
Planets are riddled with holes- that barely go anywhere. Make giant caves spawn on the surface that lead into the deeper underground, and open up more open cavern spaces and branching passages in the first layer, so that rather than digging continually, it feels more like spelunking with a little digging interspersed to get to another cave complex to explore. The point being to Invite players to go down and explore the undergrounds.

    Underground makes me cry.

Altho I must say the tiny improvements are quite nice.

I've found a nice gun, butterfly boost, and bubble boost on 3 different planets all underground (was just randomly digging for ores)

There used to be nothing, but now there are some random chests

You found two techs and a gun underground with how much resistance? Probably zero. No minis down there guarding that kind of stuff. No hazards besides lava and poison ponds. I'd like to earn my techs and have a nice battle while I'm down there but that's just me.
