Christmas items after Next Patch

I said for a few days, like 2 or 3, not a whole month lol

Me either, but this thread is about the fact that now we have made the Christmas Time Limited items, but now our chars are getting wiped and we loose the Limited time only items, till next Christmas, i said to leave the things they way they are for a few days after the next patch, so our new chars who wont get wiped can have the Christmas stuff

Yep, full wipe, there adding backwards compatibility, so that will make sure our chars never have to be wiped again, thats why having this X-Mas stuff for our new, ever-lasting chars would be cool!

Tiy said there adding backwards compatibility to our chars, meaning no more Save wipes, but, thats only Ships and Players, they said there is the possibility of Universe wipes still, but thats rare, and either way just keep your super valuable stuff in your ship.

 

I really like putting my characters in a Christmas outfit, so I hope we can still make them after the final wipe
The items may still be there just not craftable if anything, so we may be able to use that Tabula Rasa mod to craft them.

I like putting my Hylotl in her Christmas outfit xD I've remade the same character after every wipe and that's part of her character to me lol

 

Something i care about in games is immersion. I dont have much interest in xmas, its not that big of a thing where im from as it is to other people. So i actually dont like xmass themes in games. It feels a bit hamfisted and usually completely breaks the immersion of the game as it makes no sense in the context of the game.

Having it even take up part of the loottable directly interferes with my gameplay experience, at this point it becomes something i cannot ignore anymore as it was more or less forced upon me. And its actually the main reason why i havent played since the last patch. So for all i care they may leave the holiday themes to modders or make it optional.

 

im all for having the drops last a few days after the wipe, and then resume to normal, gives the people that really want the xmas stuff on their new chars a chance to do so, without forcing it upon everyone else for the rest of eternity.

 

Does it really, though?

The time spent adding Christmas items could have been spent adding new outfits and decorations, maybe even creatures, techs, and mechanics in lesser numbers, that actually fit in the theme of the game and would have added just as much new content to explore.

If you have time to develop ham-fisted immersion breaking holiday nonsense, you have time to develop something that actually adds to the core gameplay and immersion, rather than subtracting from them.

In actually pretty okay with this.

I mostly just want them gone as @Terrahero said everything I've been trying to get across very well, but I'm willing to make a couple of days sacrifice for the sake of others.

 

I want that second part too (Thats what i said) but they did spend that time making Decorations and Clothing, the Xmas stuff is the Decorations and Clothing! lol Sure they could have spent the time on other things, but not the whole team spent time making the items, and even then i doubt it would take any longer then a day to add everything for the Holiday

 

I would like something like a Yuletide Planet Biome. In which mobs have a chance to drop holiday spirit. Like, it's a rare type of planet biome.

 

If you want to get technical, you could open all the recipes in game and add them to craft through Tabula Rasa for a pixel....but there are other mods like Creative Mode that better fit the bill for things like that. That said, so long as the Christmas items continue to exist in the game files, adding them to TR should be easy.

 

I know about all of that lol. I just don't like to cheat unless it's for a miscellaneous item. And since I already use the Tabula Rasa mod, it's easier for me.

Any items with a "mod" tag on them will be in the Tabula Rasa. So if a mod you have supports the Rasa you can create those items on the Rasa.

So its basically a crafting table that can craft any mod item.
