Christmas items after Next Patch

To Clarify: Im NOT saying they should keep the recipy for the Christmas stuff 24/7, im saying they should have the drops last a few days after the wipe, and then resume to normal, gives the people that really want the X-Mas stuff on their new chars a chance to do so, without forcing it upon everyone else for the rest of eternity. (Thanks "Veran" for wording that a bit better, I used a quote from her, in what I just said)

So with the next patch coming, i imagine that cuz X-Mas is over, that Mobs wont drop Holiday Spirit, thus restricting us to any Spirit we have left to make the X-Mas stuff, but, the next patch has the final Save wipe... meaning all our "X-Mas Limited" stuff will be gon, including the Holiday Spirit!

I dont mean that there removing the X-Mas items, i mean there removing the only way to craft the X-Mas items, i really hope they leave the items in for ever, just remove mobs dropping the Spirit after Christmas, witch im sure they will... (But, not this Christmas, thats what this thread is about)

What im getting at is, Can the Devs leave the "Mobs drop Holiday Spirit" in for the next patch, or a few days in the patch? cuz i want to have a few more days to get any X-Mas stuff that i lost in the patch's wipe, so i dont have to wait a whole year to legitimately get them again...

So if they just keep mobs dropping it for a few days after the "Last wipe" update, it would really make me, and others, happy

(And its not "that" big of a deal, you probably wont see anyone using the X-Ms stuff now anyways, but just getting it to show "I was Playing SB on its first X-Mas" or something would be cool lol)

EDIT: Ok, it is annoying that Mobs dont drop Pixels cuz of the Spirit, but, could they just add Pixels along side the Spirit for the few days after the next patch, so those who want the items can get them, and those who dont, wont have to wait for it to be over to get pixels, and they can trash the Spirit if wanted, so its a win-win for everyone!

EDIT2: It seems a fair amount of people hate the Holiday stuff, why? You have the option to trash or dump out the Spirit, and even then if the Devs use what i said, you will only be collecting it for 2 or 3 days.

 

I was curious about that as well. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a different approach to getting those Holiday Spirit drops. Like maybe in certain places or certain dungeons or something like that. That would be a nice surprise, and be a way to get quite a few of those items all year long beyond stuffing them in with random loot tables.

Either way I actually would love to get a few of those items for my new character after the wipe with ease, but if doesn't happy it is no biggy to me though, as there are plenty of items to collect for a wardrobe & décor.

 

Some of the decor was pretty sweet so I hope this is the case.

 

I'd honestly be quite glad if I never saw a holiday spirit again in starbound, not to be mean. Having them drops feels sorta like the game spitting in my face when I have to grind money early on. It'd be fine if they dropped along with the item, but no, just the holiday spirit.

Though I'd be fine if they dropped for a day or two after the final wipe.

 

to be honest, as much as I liked the holiday stuff, I'm kind of looking forward to the patch removing the holiday spirit. It was fun for a while but the 800+ holiday spirit in my inventory now has me groaning every time I getmore. "Dammit! Give me PIXELS! PIXELS!"

I'm sure someone will mod the holiday spirit / holiday items back in for those of you who want to regain them. you can already get them all with the Starbound Creative Mode

but unless you're decorating for the hoildays, it's only good if you're in a quick fix for pixels or coal

 

I really hope creatures stop dropping holiday spirit after this next patch, while some may like Christmas all year around I'd much rather prefer it be for a couple of weeks a year in game. It's not like anyone would be missing out on items they didn't make since everyone will be wiped in the upcoming patch.

And if people really want the holiday items in their game they can mod them in.

 

I installed the "Bah Humbug" mod as soon as I found out it existed. If I never see those holiday items again, I'll be happy.

 

One reason I mentioned an alternative, as I am quite tired of the spirits dropping too much. Prefer if in specific place or condition maybe. Specific Dungeon or biome or something specific that can be sought out to go and get these.

But if it is only a couple days more after the update, I would be satisfied by that, as one could get more than enough from that; assuming I don't miss the update by playing another game in the meantime waiting for it. >< lol

 

I'm sure someone will comeup with the reverse of the Bah Humbug mod. The "Christmas in July" mod

 

Suredropping the spirit can get annoying, not getting pixels and all, but if they made them maybe drop both, AND only drop the Spirit for a day or three after the next patch, just allowing those who want the X-Mas stuff, to collect what they can before they stop dropping it, like, the Candy Cane blocks are good even when its not Christmas, maybe if you want to make a candy store, or a barbershop (With the spinny, red-white thing), so having a day or three allowing us to snatch what we can would be amazing, and if you dont want it, throw it way, thts also why they should add pixels to the mobs drops along side the Spirit

Could work.... but some will say its "stupid" like the Poo, i like the Poo, and think those planets would be neat!

Monsters on snow planets should always drop the christmas stuff, IMO.

 

I have to say when I first played on the Christmas update I made the crafting table 2 items from it and was like "this does not feel like starbound". Since that day about 30 minutes in to the patch I just kill mobs and periodically drop the spirit into my trash.

So I'd be glad to see it gone and if they keep it just let us use pixels so I can just avoid it, altogether.

 

hmm... thought of another possibly idea, maybe actually refining them although that might be a bit much and goes to say having spirit is worth something.

 

I think an interesting compromise might be to make holiday biomes. Relatively rare, but I could see finding a "Holiday Spirit" biome, with sparkling snow and trees have lights on them, etc. The same could be done with other holiday events as they happen. I mean, in real life there are rare towns that try and celebrate different holidays all year round, how about an entire planet in a sci-fi setting?

 

It does make sense, but remember that half the world has a summer Christmas

 

Have it for a few more days after the final wipe so people who want their stuff can get it before the removal

Meh, I would prefer it just stay an annual event. Like many I don't like that it replaced pixel drops. I understand people are upset because of the wipe though so maybe another week or so of them would be a good idea after the wipe, as long as pixel drops are fixed.
